I’m so tired of getting screwed over by the infinity “random” drop. It seems like every game I have to fight against people getting incinerator cannons and binary rifles while I’m stuck getting nades, needler, and overshield. I just had 3 games in a row were all my ordinances were that same combination. I understand your weighting system but at some point it really sucks to work hard for a drop, getting nothing significant, and then die to people with the good power weapons.
Lately I’ve been scrolling through the top scorers of every slayer game and it’s always the same. They have 3 ordinances and they have medals for various snipers and power weapons. It’s become clear that the best way to do well is get a lucky drop and use it to earn the next one.
I’m not against Infinity Slayer, I just don’t think it’s a stable enough gametype to base 2 major playlists on. Sometimes it really is fun to see what you randomly get, but since it’s the only slayer playlist (and the only BTB playlist) I’m forced into it when I want to have a different experience.
So I’m throwing my hat into the ring asking for a “competitive” slayer playlist, or atleast add BTB objectives. That way I can vary my Halo4 experience and expect a more stable game.
For some ordinance feedback: reduce the opportunity for the ridiculous power weapons and reduce the chance for the weakest ones. IMO ordinance should rather consistently give medium power weapons, like the railgun, fuel rod, or sticky detonator, and rarely give weak ones like the needler and rarely give top tier ones like the cannon. That way getting a drop is more of an assurance of awesomeness with a bit of epic thrown in. And when you get a bad drop it’s more of a bad luck scenario than constantly getting stuck with needlers.
Just my two cents.
