I finished the campaign this morning, and have some feedback for 343 on it (spoilers below)
I really liked bringing in Blue Team. Ever since FoR they have appeared in so many books, and fans have wanted to meet them in game and hear their voices. Great addition, and hope to see them in future games!
I have 2 huge complaints, however.
Why is Cortana the antagonist??? A lot of fans were rooting for her survival and reunion with John and Dr. Halsey, but even if they weren’t, NOBODY wanted to see her as the enemy! I think 343 has done some fantastic things with the Halo story, but this was a major disappointment to me. I was hoping that at the end we would find out the Didact had survived and he was masking as Cortana, but obviously that did not happen. I don’t know whose idea this was, but it was not a good one!The second is, why is Locke the playable character for 90% or the campaign? Other than Reach and the non-major games (Spartan Assault, etc), John has been the main character. What I would’ve enjoyed much more is playing as John for the majority (if not all) of the game, and portraying the events of Team Osiris in cutscenes, similar to how in Spartan Ops, you played as Crimson but Majestic was heavily features in the cutscenes. So please, 343, in H6, make John the primary (or only) playable character, and make him and Blue Team central to the campaign.
H4 was much better, and IMO, the best campaign in the franchise.

Seriously, have you not read any of the other 500 threads about the same two issues people have?
It’s the second game in a trilogy, they’re building the story still.
Locke takes up 80% of the story, not 90. Simple math :S
My problem with the story was that I was promised an epic campaign featuring an epic rivalry between Chief and Locke. That promise showed up in a 90-second cutscene a third of the way into the game. It was falsely hyped and I was extremely disappointed after finishing the campaign. Also, they said it was a 10-12 hour campaign on Normal (source: Halo 5 by the numbers) but I ran that sucker through after 5.5 hrs without speedrunning. I stuck with 343 after everyone hated them because of MCC, but now I’m really starting to dislike them for Halo 5.
