Homeworld is a good rts to look for inspiration

I just watched 30 minutes of IGN gameplay and I have to say the size scope and look. I love how the gun jeeps don’t stop when the attack a target. They strafe, circle and look like they are evading shots. And the comm chatter!

Seeing this has me hoping for a lot of improvements in just the way they engage. I want to see huge unit limits and a great true "Halo story. With my personal disappointments with the Halo Universe current. I would love to see Halo in from my perspective, the good years. And hopefully it may very well open and good story ark into what happened at the end of Halo 5.

Oh and elevation buffs

Interesting.

I’m not sure that all of that would work as well with Halo Wars. Not that it wouldn’t work, but things like elevation advantage add more complexity to micro and strategy. Halo Wars has a somewhat simplistic approach to it all and was part of the reason it was so successful. Adding more complex elements could work for it, but may end up working against it in terms of casual Halo fans simplistic view of RTS’s.

It needs to remain simple enough for the basic Halo crowd… unfortunately.

Otherwise we’d see more rioting on these forums and CAs forums about how they ‘Ruined Halo.’

But Halo Wars was too simple. It just became first to warthog rush, air rush or hunter/jackals. Halo Wars 2 needs more units greater size and complex engagements. Reward the players that want to take the time and learn strategic attack and defense plans.

Those that rushed Warthogs got destroyed by people who actually, and successfully, planned their moves.

Warthogs weren’t the be-all end-all that people made them out to be… There were other useful strats.

But yes, more variety would be good.

Either way there were only a few tactics that ruled all. No engaging matches.

I like the way u think.

Idk. I like the format that Wargame: Red Dragon does it

and Unsurprisingly;however, you have to keep it simple enough to draw in interested Halo fans and people interested in RTS, but complex enough that it draws in RTS players. Because if you don’t draw in one of these crowds it hurts the player population since most of Halo players are mostly shooter only.
