I love this game, but the Boltshot is just about the most broken piece of -Yoink- anyone has ever thought of.
It beats shotguns.
It beats Scattershots.
It renders melee attacks pointless.
And to top it all off, EVERYONE spawns with it, as not using it is simply limiting yourself. Do I abuse it? Hell yeah. What choice do I have?
I’m sick of this crutch, it’s a power weapon that you spawn with. It’s too powerful and it has WAY too much range.
I seriously hope 343 tweaks this gun in the first TU. I think the Boltshot and the questionable networking system is killing this game.

Couldn’t agree more with this, I was trying to get the weekly challenge for 12 CQC medals in one game and was finding myself repeatedly being killed by boltshots, even if I wasn’t near the other player. They either need to be nerfed or taken out of loadouts.
its not that OP as everyone keeps saying just compare it with a charged up plasma pistol
plasma pistol: 1 shot charged takes down shields up close or at distance and followed by either beatdown or headshot near instant kill
now the boltshot
advantage: can insta kill at close range without beatdown
disadvantage: very limited kill range
cant hold charge down auto releases after so long
cant emp
isnt that effective when fired normaly
it has 1 advantage over a plasma pistol other than that the plasma pistol is superior in every other way to nerf that 1 aspect would be to nerf the gun into a oblivion
ive barely had any problems against it hell even if you just wait acouple of seconds the gun auto fires and can easily be beaten

It is a one shot kill weapon that you spawn with. That is a fact, and in a shooter, especially one as competitive as Halo, that is a BIG problem.
The Boltshot’s kill range is WAY farther than it should be. You want people to spawn with this 1sk gun? Fine, it shouldn’t be able to one shot a fully shielded Spartan from anywhere other than melee range. Not lunge range. Melee.
The fact that you can be outside of lunge range and be one shotted is laughable and outright pathetic.
I was in a game of Regicide where two players were completely HORRIBLE with every weapon they encountered you with. 5 minutes later one of them had the lead, and needless to say he was running around with a Boltshot.
