Holy freakin 8 gigs

Why are the updates so -Yoink!- ginormous?

it adds new stuff, and yes its higher detail than on 360 but gorram its stupidly large.

I remember destiny vanilla on 360 was little more that 6 gigs, when I installed destiny vanilla on xbone it was a little over 40 gigs, sure it looks a little nicer but was that extra 34 just prettier textures?

I’m with you friend these are big updates. I’ll maybe get to play tomorrow if it finishes downloading lol.

We don’t care about Destiny or what it did.

Its not the length of time I’m worried about really, I don’t mind waiting, it’s more the size impacting my shared capped monthly usage.

I noticed H5 was 70G before the update. Crazy that games are so big. 6-7 games and the hard drive is full

It sucks that you have those. But technology waits for no one. And certainly not greedy companies/entities who do such things.

Those caps should be illegal, but they’re not.

I think this one is big because it has the infrastructure for WZFF in it. At least, I think it does unless there will be anothet download for the beta. Hopefully future updates will be smaller. Luckily, I’ve got plenty of space!

All that for just two maps and some weapon re-skins…
I’m no tech expert but I remember the Halo 3 days when it was like 300mb for three-four maps

H5 now pushing 80gbs. basically 25% of my hard drive.
Basically forced to uninstall full games whether I beat them or not to update the games I play the most now since patches are always like 5-10 gbs now a days.

I think so too, since the Beta for it is coming out on the 14th! Hyped! That and everything Next Gen takes a boat load of memory.

Maps were a lot more primitive back then.

less detail, less texture quality, (512x512 as opposed to 2024x2024?) and a variety of other things.

This update might also be a bit meatier because it carries working code for Warzone Firefight.

its 8 gigs because they dont care about you data limits or your storage. this game is going to force us to upgrade to that 1 tb xbone

Ahh that’s a good point. If it has FF in it that would make it big.

Halo 5’s textures are 2024x2024? Could’ve fooled the living hell out of me…

Better textures doesn’t really equate to them looking crystal clear.

You don’t really get that adequately till 4K, though I could be wrong and they’re 1024x1024 instead. I wouldn’t know without going into the files myself.

EDIT: There might be multiple sizes of them depending on where they’re used, now that I consider it. A lot of games do that.

We need google fiber to save us all. -Yoink- ATT and comcast.

You don’t say? Seems like a lot of wasted effort seeing as 4K barely exists for any home media at this point let alone video games let alone console video games.

I’m saying in texture resolutions. Images. The stuff that makes up the visual elements besides the various 3D models.

The resolution that renders to your TV is a different thing

I love sitting here reading all of your complaints. It just lets me know that I made a good decision when I bought my Nighthawk router and 1tb xbox one. Oh, and as a side note; This isn’t just adding little pieces to a game. They are expanding and updating the game which, yes, does require a puny 8 gigs of your drive. Now shut up.

No, we should let the market determine who wins. Not let the government make certain things illegal. So, let other internet providers compete with the bigger ones, by giving people unlimited internet data, or at least a cap that is much higher than others. That way, the consumers win, instead of the companies.
