Holy crap, Arena is going dynamic!!

Ok, guys. I just recently finished reading the update about forge, and while all of it sounds awesome, there is a particular feature that immediately jumped up and high-fived me in the face due to the sheer awesomeness and potential. Here’s the quote:

Scripting Redux – Almost every object in the new Forge can be scripted to move around, change colors, send event messages to other objects, spawn itself, and all kinds of other fun things. Objects can have up to four scripts that with a condition that will trigger an action when the event conditions are met. We even include a “logic switch” condition type that can wait for multiple conditions to be met before the action is triggered. It’s all super powerful and we can’t wait to see the crazy ways it gets used by the community.”

This makes for some fantastically intriguing ideas for maps, particularly when paired with other information in the post. For instance:

-A space station level with openable doors, where the walls of the space station blow open the moment all doors have been opened/closed.
-Base capture, where capturing a base will physically rotate it’s roof, so that man cannons will be pointed towards the enemy.
-Select shortcuts in larger arenas where players must navigate hazards in order to traverse them, like the boiler room in The Rock, or the piston hallway in Galaxy Quest.
-Dynamic deployment of vehicles in select spots, if a team fulfills team-based objectives during a match, like four players holding a specific platform each, for a warthog to be delivered.
-Physical hazards like spike balls being triggered if a match goes into “overtime”.

I’m getting all weird by thinking of the possibilities. Are everyone else as excited, and can you think of things you want to see or create in Forge?

Here’s the post, for those who haven’t read it:

It’s literally #triggered.

I’m in tears.

I’ll leave all the ideas to the forgers.
We just need good community features

Let the forging begin!

This sounds legitly awesome. Can’t wait to see what people come up with.

dude, this is going to be awesome. I hope that they have the file share up and running correctly by the time forge is available.

Yes, this is going to be key. Halo Reach did a lot of good things with search functions and tagging, but it took a while before Forge maps got added to any kind of rotation where you could play Forge maps while still earning XP/rank.

In my opinion, Forge map sharing can borrow a whole lot from how Youtube operates, to continously suggest and show players new maps that other people have made. For instance, a playlist of #trending and #mostplayed maps will almost always be a good thing.

Rating of maps, and the ability to easily share, play, or even queue maps or create private and shareable playlists of Forge maps would, again, in my opinion, ensure that whatever maps that comes from the community easily gets spread and enjoyed by more players.

Honestly actually excited for forge for the first time since Halo 3 and the inception of forge. Can’t wait to see some of these custom games and hopefully see some integrated into matchmaking.

Do you think Halo 5’s Forge might make a Forger out of you?

Wait, does that mean we essentially get levolution in Halo? Gotta whip this out.

Yeah, it really opens up a world of possibilities. New maps are going to be legit!

As far as I know, then yes. I believe something like levolution can be done in the new Forge. I have no idea how many objects can animate at the same time, but finding that limit will surely be an interesting game…

If you construct a tower out of multiple pieces, and if FX can me triggered and animated (as it looks like they can), then you should be able to make a tower explode and crumble, triggered by an event that you control.

Crashing hangar ships seem like a fine idea! XD I’m personally interested to see if I can animate terrain tiles so that the middle of an arena opens and becomes a Sarlacc pit halfway through a match!

This could be incredible. I can see myself losing lots of time in Forge…

Lol, you want to be swallowed by a -Yoink!- in the sand? Although that would be pretty cool.

Sounds neat, I’ll leave it to the more complex thinkers though, I’ve got armor to attain!

Yes! Or, well, technically, I want my unsuspecting enemies to be swallowed by a -Yoink!- in the sand, but either way, it’d make for an interesting replay

Halo is so creative!

The amount of new features and updates is far more than I could have ever expected. I can’t wait to see just what we can do with all these new features.

This goes perfectly with an idea I had for a Custom Games map.
Have one person break an object (with it respawning ridiculously quick), then have one person Thrust through the broken piece before it spawns back, having them land on a switch to let the other players get through. Followed by ridiculous jumping puzzles that rely on precision (Correct uses of Thrust, Air Thrusters while aiming, and Ground Pound).

Can’t wait for December!

I want the return of custom games like in the golden days of Halo 3. Gaurdians could have a long lasting population thanks to forge and all the new modes.
