Hologram in H4

After seeing some MP footage where Hologram just runs straight out and appears as a white dot on the MT I’m having fears that it’s going to be a cut and paste job of Reach’s Hologram.

343, I urge you, do not just copy and paste Hologram like it was in Reach into H4. It’s underpowered in Reach and is only useful in tricking less skilled players.

It needs to appear as a red dot on the enemies motion tracker. It needs to carry activating player’s name, it needs to have aim assist assigned to it. All of these things are absent from the Reach version and it makes the ability worthless.

It’s bad enough that it just runs in a straight line and we can’t make it do more convincing theatrics.

It is a Hologram, not a fully fledged AI, the only thing needing fixed for Reach is the fact it sometimes showed up as a Yellow, Red or Grey dot, regardless of who’s hologram it was.

Hmmm, I don’t think it should shoot, but the rest sounds fair…

We don’t need it to be an AI.

But if your opponent is at the end of a hallway perpendicular to yours and you send your Hologram out to distract him, he’s not going to be fooled by it because it’s not facing him.

Hylebos suggested way back on the B.net forums that we can control Hologram by aiming where we want it to go, press the AA button, rotating to how we want it to face, then releasing the button.

This way we get a Hologram that is sidestepping down that hallway and provides a much more realistic target for your opponent to bite on.

Hylebos also suggested that we can make Holograms crouch walk by being crouched when it’s released.

I take offense to that. I have managed to make many highly skilled players with an itchy trigger finger waste plenty of Sniper Rounds, Melees, Grenades and Rockets in an attempt to score an easy kill.

I agree it should have a red dot and a name but I don’t think it needs anything more.

I do agree that it should be a bit more powerful than the reach one.

I love this about Reach.

However, I do think it needs to have SOMETHING to make it more believable. I’m not quite sure what, though…

I did notice that your reticle turns red when aiming at it, it produces hitmarkers when shot at, and it can be seen with PV. I still think it at least needs the player’s name above it, though.

I hate that ability, would rather we stick to abilities that increase our mobilities. Drop things like Camo and Hologram.

The right idea right here.

Interesting how 2 of them are power weapons and 2 of them are commonly used killing means. Also, itchy trigger finger ≠ skill. Maintaining aim while firing at fastest rof = skill

The Hologram needs to be adjusted. They’re doing it for campaign (AI won’t always fall for hologram unlike Reach AI), mp’s next. It’s inevitable.

Same. I have some epic videos utilizing the Hologram. Use it in places where people don’t have enough time to think. Sometimes follow directly behind it and the enemy should go for the first target. Also, you can use it to make mancannon sounds and misdirect enemies on their radar so you appear to be moving away and not in a closer ambush point. Ever use a hologram with a sword? That appears threatening enough that an enemy camping the corner will move back and give you enough time to grenade and fire.

Lots of uses for the hologram as it is now.
