Holiday Themed Weeks

I had a small idea in mind.
What if when certain holidays came around(maybe like the week of Christmas, Halloween, etc) there would be some sort of temporary festive edition to the maps.
Nothing to affect map flow/gameplay. Mainly minor, humorous, and overall fun little additions.

For example, on Halloween week, there could be small additions like:

  • Extra bloody assassinations

  • All Daytime maps are turned night time

  • Campaign: Grunt Birthday Party skull makes the kids say “Trick or Treat!” rather than “Yay!”

  • Exclusive Halloween themed REQs unlockable during this week periodFor something like Christmas, I was thinking:

  • Outdoor maps(or maps that have exposure to the sky) have some slight snowfall(maybe even packs of snow in some areas)

  • Give all the Spartans Santa hats, because why not?

  • Exclusive Christmas themed REQs unlockable during this week periodJust fun little things to represent Halo holiday spirit. I think it’d be pretty cool and might encourage some people to really want to play during these periods to get the exclusive REQs that they’d have to wait another year for a chance to get. I can imagine some people having that one Halloween Mantis or something after the Halloween period is over, just keeping it there and not wanting to use it ever and keep it for bragging rights.

What do you guys think?

I think this is actually a really cool idea. Now that I think about it, I actually remember Bungie doing something like this back in Halo 3. During Christmas, the tree under the arch on Avalanche was littered with custom powerups, acive camo, and overshields that couldn’t be grabbed to look like ornaments; nothing major, but it was still an addition I appreciated greatly.

Having a black and orange scorpion would be badass though.

I think it’d be a nice little touch, but I’m not sure how to best implement that.

One of the Halloweens between Halo 4’s launch and now they had a Smashing Punkins playlist. That was fun. And then Turkey Bowl for Thanksgiving.

I like fun stuff like that.

4th of July: Everyone has an Uncle Sam hat, and instead of bullets you shoot freedom at your enemies. All Spartan call-outs are replaced with “Murica!”

I don’t celebrate Christmas. I would hope that was optional. Plus, you might have problems with the hitbox like the problem with elites in H2.

I’d love this!
Something similar to the easter eggs Bungie set when there was a holiday!
For Christmas could have:
Small amounts of snow weather set on arena/warzone maps?
An emblem to have something to do with christmas? (Only available to get the emblem the week of christmas?
christmas weapon skins?
or even easter eggs specifically for holidays like how i mentioned before!

I would not want holiday themed stuff, too many games already do it and feels like a lazy effort by dev team always. like all those gta online holiday releases were lame to say the least. make real content.

A lot of the 3rd tier weapons already look pretty Christmas-y. Most of the UNSC ones are red, green and white with a striped pattern.

There was also the celebration of Saint Patty’s Day where Grifball, CTF, Flood, Regicide, and FFA saw people turn green whether it was for that specific gamemode like Flood or FFA or, picking up the objective like in CTF or Grifball.

My favorite though was the Spartan Bowl. It was the same as the Turkey Bowl but celebrated Super Bowl XLVIIII and the team colors were made to be Broncos and Seahawks colors!

Smashing Punkins was also very fun.
