So holiday double XP has definitely been nice, especially for those trying to hit 152. Seeing as it’s January 1st, I anticipate it’ll likely end tomorrow(?). However, it would be nice to honestly enable double XP for the rest of the games lifespan or at least until Infinite releases. Seeing as the reward (in both H5 and Infinite) is rather lackluster, making it a little easier doesn’t seem too extreme.

I believe the Double XP lasts until January 4th. That’s when it ends for Halo MCC so I’d imagine the two games would have the same deadline. I could be wrong on that - don’t think they ever clarified the deadline for H5 specifically.
As for Double XP for the rest of H5 til Infinite, that topic has been bought up a lot recently. I’ve always said the same thing, it makes the status symbol of 152 irrelevant. It’s an exclusivity thing - you get there by playing a tonne of the game. 343i have said they wanted to reward 152 players because they put the time and effort into Halo 5 to reach that insane milestone of a level.
That 50 Million XP cap is essentially cut in half with Double XP for basically a entire 9 to 11 months. Honestly 9 to 11 months is enough time to get to 1 to 152 without Double XP.
End of the day levelling up in Halo 5 is just about bragging rights. You don’t really get anything for levelling up. That’s why 152 is important, it’s for the dedicated playerbase. Handing it out to anyone makes it less elusive.
I know I’ve commented on at least three similar posts to this in recent weeks, but since searching and reading is hard, here we go again. As someone who is dutifully playing the matches and trying to get to 152 (I’m almost a third of the way to 150), it rather bothers me the amount of people looking to 343 for handouts and gimmies. 152 is supposed to be an exclusive club, at least check, there were just over 2.4k players attaining 152. 152 is meant for those who enjoy the join, and want to keep playing it because of replayability, not because of a cool prize at the end of the journey. I’m way behind because we never saw the need to have xbox live before 2020, then COVID came and we both spent a lot of time at home. I started at the end of July and by the end of the year, after 5 months and 2-3 days of playing, I already have 19.7 million xp. Is that good? I dunno, you’d have to ask the expert nerds… all I know is that’s what I’ve got and I’m going to keep going. 343 is not going to cower to the bandwagoners and johnny come latelys who want to come in at the last minute and max everything out in a couple weeks and months just for a couple of cool rewards at the end of it. Halo has been around for 20 years or so, and 343 wants to reward those players who have been with them through all of the growing pains along the way. You want a decently cool looking armour in Infinite for hitting 152? Put the time and effort into 5 and you can get it… it’s that simple, the game’s been out for 5 years and you’ve had plenty of time to put a dent in the xp mountain that is 152. My suggestion for those coming on here to rally for permanent double xp, would be to spend the time in the game instead of the forums and actually earning xp. Get all the legendary boost packs you can… and just play. That’s really why the xp cap is so high, it’s meant for the people that actually enjoy the game, not for those just looking at the prize at the end of it.
Interesting. You consider the reward lackluster, but still feel the need to essentially cut corners to get it. Funny how that works…
In any case, nowhere has it been said, officially or unofficially, that you absolutely must be 152 before Infinite drops to get the reward. So until otherwise stated, that reward will be there waiting for all those still making the climb, even after Infinite drops.
2XP ends 1/4 according to community update.
Not sure if that’s midnight 1/3 or midnight 1/4 end.

The reward is definitely lackluster, but for me it’s simply something to try to achieve. I certainly would not be playing Halo 5 anymore if there was no goal to reach. Any assistance making the process shorter to ease my suffering would be appreciated.

That’s valid, but the release of Infinite will surely take a hit on the already iffy active Halo 5 population, making it even harder to hit 152.

Thankfully that’s enough time to get me into 147, hopefully pretty far in.

I’ve been playing on and off since launch and was only level 120~ before I started grinding. If they wanted 152 to be for people who enjoyed the game and not for people who wanted rewards or bragging rights, they should’ve made the game enjoyable.

Aside from the occasional frustration from matches where my team and I get completely wrecked (which is another discussion for another day)… I enjoy this game immensely. The graphics are beautiful, and aside from the questionable storyline of the campaign, I find multiplayer quite enjoyable. 343 (along with any other video game maker) will never make a game that’s enjoyable for every person that ever puts the disc in and plays it. To each their own… but I still whole heartily believe that should not now, nor ever change any game to appease the “lowest common denominator” (ie, making it easier for those that haven’t finished yet). Their response will be the same as mine is: “you’ve had five years, what more do you need”. It’s my fault I showed up late to Halo 5 and have a short window to reach 152 before everyone leaves for either Infinite or MCC, I joined a Spartan Company late and will most likely miss out on Achilles, that’s on me… not 343. You’ve been playing off and on since launch, and that’s to your credit, as you’ve clearly found something enjoyable in it or you wouldn’t have kept coming back. But to move the goal post for the people that haven’t finished the climb yet, diminishes the reward not only for you, but for those that came before you. Just like in life, there are no short cuts, you just have to play through the struggle and see where you come out on the other side. I’m more than happy give out motivation to players who need it, and trust me, you’ll need it. In five months, I’ve made it almost half way to 150 (almost 20 mil), and I’m starting to hit a wall, but I keep going, and that’s what this is all about. And just from my experience for what it’s worth, for the game types you’d get the best xp in, I usually have no issues finding matches, and I do a focused search… so that should help out. I am however, like you, concerned about the population once Infinite comes out…
Not sure the exact time double xp ends, but playlists usually switch out mid day for me on the east coast of the US, hopefully that helps you some more.

It’s for people who enjoy the game enough to at least play a few matches regularly. I don’t think H5 is nearly as good as the other games for a variety of reasons, but I still find some enjoyment and that is enough to keep me coming back. If you don’t enjoy the game, then it doesn’t make sense to waste your time when you could be playing something you find more enjoyable.

Hitting 152 is more than “a few matches regularly” IMO. Although I don’t enjoy Halo 5 nowadays, I’m grinding primarily with the hope that Infinite will be good enough to keep me encapsulated and will be one of the few with the Watchdog (?) Armor coating. I’m rather deadset on it, despite my remorse over playing so much.

Then play it like all the other folks who hit 152. There have already been tons of double XP events since last year and I’m sure 343i will have a few more this year. With all that, there really is no room for demanding what is effectively lower XP requirements unless you want to be a “152 in name only.”

Most all 152s likely played and took advantage of double XP at some point, are they “152 in name only”? Also, I’m making no demands. Simply saying it would be nice and is something I would be in favor of. I’ll survive without it. Simply a suggestion.

There’s a huge difference with 2XP at “some point” to permanently.
The idea of a permanent 2XP would essentially half the required time to get to 152. Meaning everyone who got there before spent double the time but still get the same reward in Infinite as those who got a shortcut to the end.
I understand what you’re saying is a suggestion and would be nice for players who want to level but it also completely alienates a hardcore fan base.
