Seriously, how are you supposed to complete this level?
This is the one where you have to defend the cannon, right? I also struggled a lot and had to restart like five times. I used Cyclopes, hellbringers, and warthogs to set them up where I knew the enemy was going to spawn. I have heard that aircraft is very good for this mission. If I were to do it over, I’d have a mix of Cyclopes, Hellbringers, hornets, and a few nightingales.

Mass produce hornets and two Nightingales, make turrets anti-vehicle. Then produce scorpions (5) and bunch them in a choke point on the East.
Hornets will kill off all infantry and vehicles on the North side. They’re fast moving on a long stretch and barely take any fire back. Scorpions wreck everything on the East and they can’t push threw a blocked choke point.
Only issue is banshees that come later, but make your base anti-air turrets and produce two or three wolverines and easy victory.
It takes so many resources and so long to upgrade my base to produce Scorpions…

A good way to get resources I’ve found is make 2 supply pads and 2 generators immediately then upgrade them as soon as you can. It seems to be pretty effective for a quick base

Yup. Only need a slot for air pad and armory (? to upgrade reinforcements). The rest is resources. Then when they come at north-east destroy the armory and build a garage. I had too many supplies towards the end of it and units barely died–Like two hornets to the banshees.
Edit: I’m not an RTS player, so my strategy is novice at best. I also don’t know when it becomes inefficient to have “too many” supply pads/generators.
Ya it’s an absurd jump in difficulty! I’m sure on PC it’s not quite as bad because attacking multiple fronts is easier to manage with M&K, but man I’ve failed so many times on this damn mission now.
Beaten this on Legendary already so, normal is a cake walk.

How? The furthest I’ve gotten is 14 minutes, with them overrunning me at the 17 minute mark, it’s absolutely ridiculous…
I went Scorpions and air primarily, with the remaining pop varied for counters. Played on Moderate, seemed easy enough.

I tried the same on legendary three or four times, and it’s absolutely infuriating. They cleansing beam immediately on my east flank killing most of my scorps, then spam their units to the point where I can’t keep up. I guess I suck because I’ve been at it for about 4 hours now…
I failed it the first time but I just beat it myself. The trick is Nightingales. Get two of them as soon as you can and then you need a good mix of Hornets, Hellbringers and Cyclops. Keep this group in the choke point near the ramp to the middle mini-base and it should hold everything off while you build up resources/tech/etc.
Make the turrets around that mini-base anti vehicle, and the rest of the turrets near your main base anti-air. This will be enough until you have scorpions and the rest takes care of itself.
Nightingales!

Oh I have no trouble golding the first waves. In fact, I don’t even waste a single unit until the 19 min mark. It’s the part where I get locust swarmed where I get murdered. I really struggle dealing with the overwhelming amounts of vehicles that swarm you after they leader power everything tou own to death.

Well Legendary is definitely going to be harder. I was just countering the point for it being to hard on normal.
Good luck to you.
I just finished it with no barriers destroyed on Legendary with no skulls on and got the gold medal and here’s how.
First things first is your base management.
- Your main base should have 3 supply pads, and 2 generators at the start.
- The 1 slot minibase you start with should have an armory.
- Drive your Warthog to the north of the map and grab the 2 slot minibase and put 2 supply pads on it.
- Fly your Hornet to the west of the laser and grab the 1 slot minibase and put 1 supply pad there too.
- Capture both energy production pylons with your spartan and marines.
Now that your economy is rolling you need to realize something important is this mission is aaaaaaaaaaall about turrets. Do not make a single other unit until all of the turrets on the “Northwest” and “Northeast” approaches are completed so build those now. Don’t build the base turrets until every other turret is done and then make them siege turrets. The first 10ish minutes are just infantry so upgrade all the turrets to anti infantry turrets on the large curve that they move around on the approach to the west barricades. Make sure once you get your armory you prioritize getting the fortification upgrade in the top middle of the menu to make your turrets better.
All the turrets should be built now and you’ll be getting attacked by vehicles soon on the “northeast” approach. Switch a couple of the turrets to anti vehicle on that approach to counter accordingly. The 2 turrets by the east barricade should also be made into anti vehicle as they are the biggest threat over there.
After your done with all this, upgrade your main base and make the last 2 slots airpads. Upgrade and spam as many hornets as you can with a few nightingale’s to support them. Put half of your hornets by the east entrance to your base along the east route so they can kill the east attacks and the eastern base attacks. Put the other half along the western entrance along the western route so they can kill the vehicles that slip through and the banshees that get sent at your base. Throw down the drop in turret in a pinch and your’ll be golden.
This should carry you through to the end with a really easy win and turn this from one of the hardest to one of the easiest missions in the game no problem. If you have any other questions feel free to ask. I can make a video of this if anyone would like assistance on the matter.
For those struggling, put hornets with nightingales in front of the southeast barricades they will take care of the vehicles. Then in the center lane right before the barricade that is at the west of the base, basically right in front of the light bridge put a mishmash of anti-air and anti-vehicle. If you set up turrets all around the map and make them the appropriate defense like anti-infantry etc depending on the lanes enemies come in they will nerf the enemies enough that you won’t have any troubles, especially on normal. Normal is childsplay. Make sure you use your spartan to claim all the bases on the map and collect all resources because you will need them to defend yourself early on. On your main base make sure to put siege turrets as well they will snipe at units including the locusts that push. When you get to the locust waves make sure you send your hornets and nightingales to attack them then put them back in front of the southeast barricade.
Also make good use of your leader abilities they are your best friend. Place the turret at lane entrances when you know there is a big wave coming, and make sure to use orbital strike on vehicle waves.

These are good tips too.

Replayed this on heroic after a little struggle on normal. Surprisingly it went better than my first play through, but that glassing beam is brutal. I’d be managing one side and look over to the other and see all my hell bringers dead in a pile. I left you all alone for literally ten seconds and you completely failed at just standing there and waiting for the enemy.
This is my best run.
My base was destroyed by a Locust swarm because I thought that, with such little time left, I could hold out with what units I had against the Wraiths, Ghosts and Hunters.
I was very wrong.

Thanks for the advice, I’ll try this.
