Hold more ammo...

Am I the only one that messes being able to hold 600 extra rounds for the AR and hold 8 extra rockets? Maybe its because I migrated from Metroid to Halo CE but I really miss being able to have more than enough ammo at the start of a mission to get at least 1/3 through it before needing more ammo or an new weapon… It also never made sense that when we upgraded armor our ammo capacity went down.

We could hold 600 AR rounds because each mag held 60, so thats 10 mags, not too unreasonable. The MA5B (new AR) holds 32, and i think we can carry like 256 rounds, or 8 mags. Not that big of a difference, considering each round from the MA5B does about twice the damage of an Halo CE AR round. Math out of the way, i actually prefer lower ammo capacity, it forces you to interact with the battle field more, looking for new weapons as you run out of ammo, adds more depth to the game. Having large ammo capacity can sometimes verge on infinite ammo, which ruins a game for me.

I agree wholeheartedly. It seems like every single subsequent Halo game forces you to scavenge more and more, and I don’t think that should be a major part of the gameplay in Campaign. Those Promethean Knights eat your bullets so fast it makes your head spin.

The MA5B was the halo CE AR. That’s the MA5C and the MA5D.

Yeah, and their weapons were mostly crap, save for the scattershot and incineration cannon.

As long as the extra ammunition is in the campaign I would be happy. Too many people complain about tweaks in mutliplayer.

Well in mp I’m Usually either dead before I’ve used all my ammo or I’m picking up some much from enemies and Allies that I never run out.

And yet every AR has used the same 7.62x51mm NATO rounds so the MA5B’s clips had to be almost twice as large as the later models.

I don’t agree OP. The fact about scavenging and/or looking for continual ammunition, adds to the sandbox genre of shooters; it gives players ingenuity and creates new and different firefights, which forces different strategic movements and tactics using the buffs of the specific weapons they’re carrying.

I hated holding so little ammo because it harmed my immersion in Campaign. The amount of ammo you were given for UNSC weapons in Halo 4 was pathetic. And yet Master Chief still shows up with them by the end of the level, despite running out of ammo for it and discarding it long ago. I liked CE where I would be able to discovered separate piles of ammo placed around the map to use throughout the level.

I personally like to do the realistic ammo self imposed challenge in CE, where in levels like TaR, or AotCR, I only pick up ammo where it would realistically be; from scripted dead Marines in places that actually makes sense (that means not taking ammo from from scripts dead marines where they wouldn’t realistically be, like not taking any ammo from any of the Marine bodies in TaR, except for taking ammo from allies who were actually following you. As well as not taking any ammo from Marines throughout the second half of AotCR, because there’s no reason for the Marines to be in that location in the first place).

Halo 4 should have come up with more way to replenish your ammo in the later half of the game, or let us carry more ammo.

I kind of prefer CE in that respect, as ammo came up less frequently, because you didn’t quite need it. The later games needed to place more ammo as you went due to low capacity, and that was thanks to multiplayer. Solution: more carrying capacity in Campaign.

Its an absolute necessity for the campaign. Playing Halo 4 often felt like having the famine skull on all the time the default ammo counts were so low. If they want to limit ammo a bit more in multiplayer fine, but that should not bleed over into the campaign, especially when fighting bullet spongy tier 1 enemies. I don’t think it needs to be necessarily on CE levels, but I feel there is a happy medium somewhere in between.

agreed.
I did like the way in Reach, WC gave us more than ten extra mags for the AR. I would like to see that again.

I agree with Werepyre. Carry more ammo in campaign only. It promotes camping in MP when players don’t have to move around the map looking for ammo or another weapon.

Being able to carry more ammo in Campaign would only be necessary if they are truly something you haven’t seen before, or the promethean knights are back. Those guys in Legendary would be able to take clip after clip. But, I don’t really think they should add more ammo, on any of the gametypes. Including Forge, Campaign and Multiplayer.

If you can’t handle the campaign, or multiplayer with the amount of ammo they give you, or leave around for you to collect… then you probably should get better. That’s the point. Having 89823874390 bullets will only show that you can use bullets, not that you have the skill to go further.

meh, gives me a chance to try new guns… i just hope there is enough ammo if i want to go back to original gun… lol

Please god give us more ammo for this game. When I play shooters I like ammo for my guns, h4 was a JOKE ammo wise IMO.

I feel it encourages the player to try different weapons, as much as I hate abandoning my beloved Assault Rifle,

While I agree with you I don’t understand the push back in letting me have ammo for my favorite gun and letting me enjoy the game my way (talking campaign). Let me have lots of guns and lots of ammo. That way i can experience all guns to full extent with lots of ammo. Again this is just my opinion.

No, i hate games that give you too much ammo. Makes it way too easier and boring as hell.
