Hmmmm - really not liking PV............

The more footage I watch, the less I’m liking Promethean Vision. I’m about as open minded as anyone when it comes to new Halo games but this “ability” just seems like a bad idea.

One of the keys in shooters is having the reaction time and awareness to find your opponents first. Combining that with radar awareness is part of Halo. Also, the two add up to give you that tension and excitement of running through the corridors and constantly checking your corners.

Having an ability to have the game show you where enemies are not only repeatedly but immediately upon spawning too? It just seems to go against a core feature of FPS games.

In reality if they suck, they still suck.

IMO i wouldnt even worry about ProVision if the person using it finds out where you are but just turns out to suck and you out-BR him and what not. I’d rather have Thruster Pack anyway.

While that’s a valid opinion and true from both of you, what if the person using it is an excellent player?

Not only can they shoot better than you, but now they can see you first too?

hmmm…idk i mean they said you would know if you get pinged with ProVision so maybe your AA and Specializations may aid you.

Agreed i think there should at least be a specialization where it makes it so they cant see you through walls or something like that.

> Agreed i think there should at least be a specialization where it makes it so they cant see you through walls or something like that.

This is what I hate about CoD.
Some people show up on radar. Some don’t. Some don’t even signal that they’re an enemy.
I hate this unbalanced and unknowing how the map and game are playing out.
Just scrap this.

I don’t want to play every match fearing that somebody on the other team might be using Promethean Vision, keep it in campaign/spartan ops.

It doesn’t need to be in multiplayer.

THIS. You shouldn’t have to balance a feature that is unnecessary and unbalanced to begin with. The radar in Halo is the feature that provides awareness but is balanced for all players.

This is what 343i seem to be banking on.
Just like Camo and Jetpack it will be abused and spammed with no regret.

Half of my play style involves stealth. PV ruins that.

> Half of my play style involves stealth. PV ruins that.

Again I agree. Thinking about it even more, with PV the infamous “Halo crouch” to move slowly but off radar is eliminated as well if they are using PV.

I wish 343i would speak about PV and why they feel it’s a good idea. This is one of the first things I truly seem to dislike about Halo 4 so far from what I’ve seen.

why have walls and/or terrain or structures?

it takes away from the unknown which is what makes the game exciting…

PV way to powerful…

From what we have seen so far its doesnt look to great IMO. Either way its not going to be a game changer for me.

I find it sad that Promethean Vision is the only AA that has been shown thanks to the MLG Pros. I swear they ruin the game even for competitive player because people think its awesome to run around with the same gun and AA as everyone else! Where’s the variety!?

I would like to see the Hard-Light Shield, Active Camo, Thruster Pack, etc. in action but no, the Pros have to be obsessed with PV!

Probably because it’s OP . . .

One was even quoted as saying “Why would I use anything else?”

Think about it. This is a shooter. If you have the ability to see where people are ahead of time, through walls, why would you NOT use it? What ability is truly worth having over that? It allows you to get the jump on anyone, shoot first, and even avoid incoming battles if you’re outnumbered or damaged. What could be more powerful for a good player?

Hopefully a MLG type playlist will be able to remove PV. I can’t see that being used competitively.

> Hopefully a MLG type playlist will be able to remove PV. I can’t see that being used competitively.

But then we are RIGHT back into the playlist mess that Reach became over time with things like armor lock. If it’s not balanced then it shouldn’t be in the game AT ALL.

Then let’s go back to what made Halo great from the beginning: no running ability, no PV, no armor lock, no invisibility, no holograms, etc. Until a current producer of a Halo game realizes that less is more, Halo as we know it won’t ever come back.
