Hmmm something I haven't seen addressed

Everybody talks about betrayal problems and destroying team vehicles, but I haven’t seen anybody discuss people being penalized for betrayals and suicides in team games. Why don’t spartans receive a negative score for their team when they fall off a map, commit suicide, or run over a teammate?

And for that matter why has team kill been taken out from SWAT? It is frustrating when a unaware teammate walks in front of my shot and an enemy gets a collateral on us because my shot won’t go through my teammate

Nah friendly fire just needs to ricochet back and injure the bad aiming/team killing player and problem solves itself. That said im sure ive seen a few posts on the issue , so dont worry its one of the many few things were hoping that will get fixed in the next TU, even though we know none of it will, but we can hope haha.

It is an issue and i do wish that the boot system was better. As for getting negative points i dont really see that being something we need.

AS for SWAT, i could see alot of gamers who would see that as a chance to make others angry by team kills

Friendly fire does not need to come back. If anything it needs removed from the playlists it is currently in. Got betrayed today just because some -Yoink- on my team wanted to capture the flag himself.

There should be a harsher penalty for betraying though. I’d go as far to say you should be given the option to boot someone the very first time they betray you. Or at least make it not random.

I remember in Halo 3 someone would betray me multiple times and I wouldn’t be given the option to boot them, but the instant I betrayed them back I was booted. Pissed me off.

As for suicides, -Yoink- happens. Unless the guy is constantly suicide on purpose it’s not an issue. If he is constantly suiciding, there isn’t much you can do about it that would solve the issue.

But like the OP said, what would happen if the person walks in front of you just as you fire in swat and end up hitting your team mate head instead. This is no part due to your bad aimming but the idiot getting in your way. This has happened to me with the sniper, where someone just walk in front of my scope as I’m about to shoot as well as team mate running into the area where I have thrown my grenade.

True Snowy. I guess I just wish they wouldn’t have turned off team kill in all game modes. It seems like people assume team kill is off in all game modes and people end up nading teammates in objective game types such as oddball. And it takes away some of the joy of a perfectly placed grenade that only hits an enemy

I believe it takes away from the skill of the game when friendly fire is turned off. I understand your frustration, it has happened to me before also. I don’t think it would be as big of a problem if the boot system was fixed

They tried one betrayal = boot option at Reach’s launch. People complained about their “accidental” betrayals getting them booted.

Fair call too. Accidents should not be punished.

I’ve had 4 chances to boot different players and never have because I know its an accident, or at least seemed that way. Never had a problem after, either

Here’s another solution - penalize a team killer with a loss of XP, or deranking if they are repeat offenders.

That would be a good solution if there was a 1-50 system. I don’t mean to sound like a complainer, but it doesn’t mean much in the ranking up system because it is so easy to gain XP.

Because this encourages trolls. If one team gets negative for betraying then it will effect the main game, trolls just love that sort of thing.
