HMCC should have over 400+ achievements

I have been thinking about the HMCC’s 4000 achievements points and how they are going to be divided up. The way I would do it is make every achievement worth 5 to 10 points and based off of few simple ideas that would generate over 400 achievements. The first is to award achievements for completions on normal difficultly or better, such as completing a campaign level or a spartan ops mission as well as finding a terminal or skull would considered completion achievements, also there would be completion achievements for completing a match on every individual map in multiplayer matchmaking. The next type of achievements would be based on getting 5 kills with ____ or of ___. These would be contextual within campaign and multiplayer while not overlapping from one to the other, but the criteria for each would be specific to each game and a few examples would be 5 assault rifle kills in HCE campaign, 5 assault rifle kills in HCE mp, 5 assault rifle kills in H3 campaign, 5 assault rifle kills in H3 mp, 5 grunt kills in HCE, 5 grunt kills in H2, 5 grunt kills in H3 and so on. The last thing is that any Legendary and LASO type achievements make more sense as challenges instead of achievements.

I would rather have a mix of small achievements and larger ones.

I would like the play every map once kind of achievements, and get so many kills with this weapon achievements.

I would also like bigger achievements worth more gamerscore, such as complete a campaign on legendary or complete every campaign on legendary and another for completing them on any difficulty.

A mix is a good thing.

I think 4,000 is fine, the game is already going to -Yoink!- life away.

> I would like the play every map once kind of achievements

Never again! They had this in Halo 2 Vista, and even when you can get the achievements in a private lobby, it’s still the biggest pain in the -Yoink- to get!

On topic: I think 400 is over doing it a bit. I’d say 200 at most, 150 preferably.

I don’t really see any point in adding “kill five enemies with x” achievements (nor do I see a point in adding “complete level x” either, to be honest). I’ve always seen achievements as rewards for either playing differently, like killing a player with Grid in Forge, doing something really challenging or just as a joke.

Clearing very simple and easy achievements just doesn’t feel rewarding at all. Instead, they feel very discouraging and boring to get. I would just put all of the grind-like achievements to a challenge section instead.

If I’m going to invest time in getting achievements, I’d like to have fun doing it. Grinding achievements, like Halo 4’s Commendations or Titanfall’s “play every gametype on every map” achievement, aren’t fun.

I also like that some achievements are worth more than others. Completing the Campaign on Legendary ought to be worth more than killing five Grunts.

I very much disagree. I think that Campaign completions make more sense as achievements and “kill 5 enemies” make more sense as challenges or commendations.

You make a reasonable point, fair enough.

I really don’t understand the point of achievements. Most of them aren’t really achievements. They also screw up competitive gameplay when people focus more on the achievements than winning the match. I got chewed out one time where everyone in the lobby was boosting for achievements but me. It’s not an achievement if you have to boost for it!

This too. Achievements should never have the possibility of being unobtainable later, which means nothing having to do with DLC or niche gametype objectives. Achievements should be independent of other players (not based on luck), which means no “assassinate a player who is zoomed in” achievements. Achievements should never require a player to play against the spirit of the game, which means no “camp for 60 seconds” or “get destroyed in three vehicles in one life” achievements.

That’s why I hate multiplayer achievements, especially the random ones that would almost never happen without boosting (e.g. kill 20 people with a cone in a single match). But the regular achievements that require skill or time can help make the game more enjoyable and provide incentive to keep playing.

Every achievement should be related to the campaign, like CEA.

> Every achievement should be related to the campaign, like CEA.

Well that’s only because CEA used Halo Reach’s multiplayer. It still had multiplayer achievements.

I’m talking about the CEA Achievements, not the CE Anniversary MP Cheevo’s in Reach.

I’m happy that Halo is not the kind of game that has a small amount of achievements for tons of gamescore.
Complete Halo: CE - 1000G
Complete Halo 2 - 1000G
Complete Halo 3 - 1000G
Complete Halo 4 - 1000G
Ugh, no~

I actually like this XD
I know I don’t have every single achievement with all the Halos already, I know I just have alot of them. Almost all of them, really!
I have to admit, it would be lame to limit the achievement list to just 4…I just don’t like the fact there will be "Kill “X amount of” people on “X map” using the “X weapon”! I hate them!

All the Halos together, so far, I’m missing 21 achievements, and it drives me crazy!

i think achievements like endure, classic, annual, audiophile, deva vu, marathon man, campaign scoring, brainpan, legendary solo, firefight 200,000 or halo wars achievements like mr punctual, graverobber, halo historian or wall of recognition, i also found the mission specific achievements in halo wars to be the most fun

  • something you have to go out of your way for
  • something that isn’t too tedious or boring
  • something that doesn’t require a slow gain towards but a one off attempt
  • something that gives you a new way to play through something

i love multiplayer achievements, hard ones, but tbh they could be in-game challenges ones that don’t reward too much but just something for the fun of it, even just an achievement, but one that is built in-game, sort of like the weekly/monthly challenges but better.

commendations suck tbh, i’d rather have a medal showcase and a kill total for all weapons, make some milestones out of it, but allow the player to see and compare their totals with other players.

also maybe have a challenge creation system in which you invite your friends. i know that was on the halowaypoint app but allow it to be more diverse and give a different type of reward (in-game achievement) rather than rank progression.

competitive 0riented achievements would be nice

-sprees
-perfections
-time on hill/ball
-flag returns
-assist

something like: grab the sniper right after it spawns.

winning sprees, etc.
