Really? I know H5 have that as well, but i really think it doesnt belong in a single player experience. I also know this “CoD” stuff is to appeal new generations that only play MP (Spoiler, they wont left Black Ops/Warzone for Halo. They didnt do it with H4 they wont do it with infinite).
The best hit mark in Halo is the yellow shields (for MP) and just blood (even “toon” blood) for single player… it is just silly. “It is like you are playing a multiplayer game… but offline and with npc!”. It is something that belongs in the era of everyone trying to be CoD. I really believe they should remove it, at least in the campaign in my opinion.
I don’t like hit markers at all. Mp or campaign. I’d rather use the information that the games giving me with audio or the visuals rather than a hit marker.
Yeah I find them rather pointless in campagn, but I dont mind them as long as they are more discrete like in Halo 4.
I kind of like them in multiplayer but I would rater have none there too rather than these extreme ones.
So small subtle ones or none at all for me.
There’s a little detail i saw in the campaign demo that amazes me. The grenade explosion itself has no hit marker. Only if you stick the grenade you get that hit mark. That shows me 343 is listening and if there is an option to turn hitmarkers off we can all be happy.

Not all of us.
Mostly those who like to squat just around the corner like big sookie squatter things. Usually with a shotgun. Often with active camo.

So you pre-nade every corner in H5 for hit mark to see if someone is camping there? Campers benefit from bad map design not from no hit markers.

I believe most Call of Duty games have hitmarkers turned off in campaign precisely because it makes killing enemies less satisfying. I hope 343 remove hit markers in campaign at least with an option to turn them off entirely in settings. I realise this will be one of the first things the modding community will do when this releases on PC but as a console player I really want the option to turn them off too.
CoD is certainly not the only game to do hit-markers, and won’t be the last. I personally like them, they feel more tactile than just the subtle glow of the shields when you hit a shot. But I hope Infinite doesn’t have grenade hitmarkers

I just watched the gameplay again, you are right! the hit marker only appear when you stick the granade but not when it explodes.
I still prefer more subtle ways of “hit mark” like the yellow shields, blood (it can be cartoon) or animations. 343 should start thinking more in what is Halo an evolve from there and try to adapt it to modern tendencies.

I’m a big fan of hitmarkers. I can understand why some people don’t like them though, so there should be an option to turn them off.

This exactly. I want to know I’m hitting my target because of the visual and audible splendor before me, not because of some annoying little tick in the user interface.

If camo is just a powerup on the map that doesn’t matter. They are just burning it if they are camping anyway. Being able to throw grenades all over the place and “ping” enemies is completely unbalanced. You might as well have Promethean vision from Halo 4.

I figure you should be able to tell from the sound of the explosion that a Spartan was hit.
The sound of fragments hitting armour. The hum of shields being stressed. The squealing cries of a sookie lah-lah squatter type.
So a hit marker is the least they can do.
The camper knows the game is up… so they have the option of toggling crouch and moving away.
