Hit markers but no kills

Don’t slam me with negative crap for asking this but has anyone else ever been in a gun fight and there’s a hit marker on the last shot but never a kill? I’m running into more events like this and I don’t know if it’s because of some sort of lag or if it’s the servers just not passing that shot on. I want to know if there’s other people besides me and my friend getting this in Arena.

You could’ve bodied him instead of headshotting him, but other than that, I haven’t experienced it.

Following up with a melee attack can help too, but only if you put in enough damage beforehand and that you’re within range.

its the servers man. They are complete dog -Yoink-.

A hit marker doesn’t necessarily mean that you killed your opponent, all it means is that you hit a critical part of the body.

To recap:
Hit marker = not dead.

The only time you should count a player as dead is when he appears on that kill feed in the bottom left corner.

Also, the name pretty much says it all hit marker, not kill marker or death marker.

The servers have been wonky lately. So many of my shots are blanks and it makes this game extremely frustrating to play sometimes.

Feels like they are getting worse lately like a lot worse than they already are I’ve had some brutal experiences in the last few days

I’ve had the same experience in warzone the last few days. Yesterday I had a game on apex 7 were two different times I stopped shooting because I fived someone only to realize that last head shot did not kill him and then he killed me. Same game I ran into a guy with his shields down and had to head shot him 6 times to die. I know I should have kept shooting but I can tell when my shots hit or not and I guess I’m in the habit of stopping shooting when I’m sure I’ve killed someone. Guess with the way the servers have been I need to shoot one more shot. So OP you are not the only experiencing this, it’s been bad on and off lately.

I’ve always had them in this game could be my aim though nothing like getting a dude to no shields and then getting like 3 hit marker body shots and then getting 5’ed by him -_- one of my favorite experiences with halo 5…haha.

I’ve noticed it because when I reviewed my footage I hit all my shots so they would have been perfects, like you can tell because usually their head jerks back if you do so that’s just one example. I just got from a game that there was one dude hitting perfects but you could see him teleporting around the map from either lag or something else. It was ridiculous. I can’t even get into games because the servers have been so wonky lately.

That’s a controller breaker right there

I experienced a lot of what I would call shot cancellations a while ago in SF gameplay. Not just with standard base weapons but with heavies such as rockets and fuel rod cannons. I would pull the trigger, watch the animation of the weapon blast, have a direct hit and I would die but they wouldn’t. I’m talking medium range shots, not enemy in your face so you commit suicide shots.

Has the “hotfix” fixed anything? I’ve noticed some more issues with the servers land the headshot thing is still there but other than that nothing much. Definitely tell 343 about anything you come across.

The hot fix didn’t address anything in terms of server issues at all. They only addressed the heavy aim and reorganized the armor and helmets for easier access. Any substantial fixes and tweaks may only come with the next content update (which is to be determined).

Thank goodness they fixed the heavy aim. I hope they can get something out to help with the servers. Load times for one game and disconnecting is ridiculous.

Are you getting a headshot after their shields are down or body shots? Multiplayer games are weird, the other day I swear I got a 5 shot perfect with the BR lol

I usually get their shields down and I’ll headshot them at least twice afterwards but I go down instead of them.

Sounds like server/lag issues. Especially weird that you get hit markers though… you would think that if it were about connection/server you wouldn’t even get markers to begin with. Hmmmmm.
