Picture 2 with the same characters (but no player 4?).
Remember, Halo 3 had:
Player 1: the Chief
Player 2: the Arbiter
Player 3: Elite
Player 4: Elite
This picture follows the same pattern:
Player 1: the Chief
Player 2: Unidentified soldier. “New hero”? Also seen in this cutscene still (the soldier on the left).
Player 3: Spartan/ODST
Player 4: Spartan/ODST
No matter how they do it, it’s not going to be exactly canonically correct, because Chief was completely alone at the first of the campaign. So whether it’s these characters and they are there too early, players’ custom Spartan IVs and they are also there too early, or there are 3 Chief clones, any coop experience is going to be slightly canonically off in the first few levels.
Uh, the Elites from Halo 3 had names. So i’m pretty sure they weren’t random. They may not have been integral to the story(or show up in any cutscenes), but they do have backgrounds, so they are established in Halo canon.
> I believe players 2, 3 and 4 are Master Chief clones. Having Spartan-IVs wouldn’t make a whole lot of sense.

> Chief clones are awesome anyway
That could be it, but the coop experience doesn’t necessarily have to be exact canonical. There being 4 Chiefs is as bogus as there being Spartan IVs there. lol.
If the Arbiter isn’t in Halo 4, we’ll likely play as a different Spartan for CO-OP. I’m pretty sure there’s a new “hero”, 343i said that at some point. So the if the Arbiter isn’t there, we’ll likely play as Spartans or Marines.
I think that it’ll expand on what Bungie did with Reach. We’ll be using our own Spartan 4 that we use in multiplayer, and if no player is in the spot, their model will be replaced with a Marine/Generic S4 in cutscenes.

Maybe we will play as Chief clones until we reach the Infinity?

I don’t think it’s going to be as alone and cozy as we like. Because uh you know…XD

Thats very possible but it would be weird to switch in the middle of playing campaign. Who knows… it could happen.

Im not entirely sure how “alone” we will be lol I mean they have had almost 5 years of being alone… except John was a Master Chiefsicle at the time… (I find that last comment of mine actually really funny.)
PS. Its funny seeing The Massive Moa and The Little Moa quote each other.
