Hint of Covenant and Flood's return?

“All weapons, vehicles and enemies have been updated graphically.”

Now, I’m pretty sure that everyone has seen the “Making Halo 4: First Look” video. I love that 343 have finally showed us something, and I love more or less everything that they’ve shown. Everything looks good so far, so keep it up 343.

Now, to the point, Neil Harrison says “All weapons, vehicles and enemies have been updated graphically.” at 2:07 during the video. Now, obviously we’re fighting a new enemy, but so to speak, how can you update the graphics of an enemy we have never seen before? So it’s put my mind to believe that there might be the possible return of the Covenant, or at least individual species from the Covenant and the Flood in Halo 4. Maybe I’m just thinking ahead of myself.

Or maybe I’m wrong and the Sentinels are to make a return as well? I’m not sure.

Opinions, anyone?

AHHHHHHHHH, clever girl.

When Neil said this, I was also curious. Good find.

I really hope we find out soon, it’s been bugging me for quite a while now…

Well I imagine there will be setinals

Ex Covenant races are confirmed to be in the game but are not enemies.

Go to 1 minute, 6 seconds… An “enemy” is sitting on top one of the computer screens.
My guess is that it’s the floor, and it may or may not be from Halo 4.

> Ex Covenant races are confirmed to be in the game but are not enemies.

Is it? May I see this confirmation just to be more sure?

Here you go.

Interesting. I’m not sure, it could be a new enemy just as much as an old one, but I think it looks like a Halo Wars-era Elite.

Thank you.

But I just wonder, what part of Halo 4 will the “Covenant” play?

Well the Terminals from Halo AE seem to give the impression that there was some disagreement with how the Forerunner were going to deal with the Flood threat, there was even going to be 14 Halo rings at one point, perhaps one group splintered off from the rest hid for all these years and is coming out of hiding to claim what they deem is rightfully theirs. Evil Forerunners.
I think of course you’ll fight some sort of splinter Covi faction but I believe there will be some kind of peace between Covi and Humans. Some left over flood no doubt will appear, but the main threat will be this new enemy.

Probably allies.

I somewhat am inclined the believe that the Elites will make some sort of appearance in Halo 4, despite their problems with the Brutes. And I definitely think Flood will appear at some point; they just keep comin’ and comin’.

Theory: While halo 4 campaign will focus on forerunners the multiplayer will focus on outside forerunner planet matters. Kiki wolfkill has confirmerd in an interview with gametrailers that halo 4 will take place 5 years after. During this time humantity has been fighting over forerunner artifacts with sangelli forces. They have captured installation 03, onyx shield world and halo evolutions makes a note of human policy at the end of The Return. Human and elites will be Fighting eachother as well as spartan 4s will be training. Further hypothesis is that humanity at the end of the glass lands trilogy could be in a civil war and Spartans have chosen sides. Spartan 4s are not indoctrinated to follow orders like spartan 2s were.

Oh… My humble opinion is as follows:

He did say ‘enemies are updated graphically.’ And we also know he said that this will be something bigger than anything Master Chief has faced so far (not a direct quote.)

We’ve also seen in Glasslands that there is still fighting, now with both the UNSC and the various factions splintering in the Covenant.

So it makes sense that we could see enemies from the Covenant, as well as new enemies depending on where John landed. What interests me the most, is the inclusion of the Spartan IV’s. We already know they existed by now (mentioned to be in training and some are on board the Infinity)

Has anyone even considered the Precursors as the enemies of Halo 4? No, seriously, have you? 343 seems to be playing up the Precursors alot in the Forerunner Saga which is very close to the ground of Halo 4. 343 even said that the Chief will be facing something different in Halo 4 than previous installments.

The only thing about bringing in the Precursors, is they’d be bringing back the Flood. As we found out at the end of Primordium, the Precursor was a Gravemind.

I completely understand what your saying. And I don’t necessarily disagree. Its time for something new. But the thing is, the Forerunners being an enemy doesn’t entirely make sense. Before firing the rings, they acknowledged Humanity as the true inheritors of the Mantle. So why try to kill us? The Covenant is getting old, i’m glad they’re taking a back seat. They’re in the game, but they’re not the main enemies says 343. The Flood was a grave threat to the Galaxy and the Precursors created them. Right. So they would return. They were annoying, and they’re as old as Halo itself. But truthfully, there is nowhere else to go with enemies.

Yeah I’m pretty certain it’s the Halo Wars Elite.
