Higher ranking Elites vs Promethean Knights.

I wonder how they compare, I hope that they are somewhat equal, this could lead to some awesome AI fights during the campaign.

They are reletitively close in size and strength by the looks of it, I thonk it would be sick to see a face off between a Zealot and a Promethean!

I really hope this happens. I miss the epic fights between the Brutes and the Elites form Halo 2.

Yes

In the campaign trailer during Cortana’s crazy monologue. You can see a Promethean Knight what looks to be assassinating an Elite with his blade.

I think it’s safe to say the Covenant and Promethean’s will have interesting engagements xD

As an authority on Halo AI, I can’t help agreeing.

First thing is to identify the AI’s flaws. In CE, Zealots berserked in proximity and pointed at detected enemies. Knights seem to have a delay after using their “Sprint” teleport ability. And of course, taking out the Watcher is critical.

The Knights have less significant flaws. In CE, I found that the Zealot lost to rocket launcher Flood because he berserked so much. If this returns, it should be much more shorter.

Now to identify their characteristics.

The sword Elite at the beginning of the demo just charges. He’s quite fast but not as fast as in Reach. Climbing over stuff doesn’t take too long. If Zealots are going to be like that (just making charges), I can’t see epic battles happening. Zealots need abilities if they want to stand a chance. Grenade throwing is a must, as well as leap from CE (if Hunters could leap melee, we’d be screwed).

Zealots should also be able to switch weapons unlike in Reach where Elites could spawn with 2 weapons but never used their secondary. A good example of an apex combatant. It possesses poor AI (blame H3 for making Flood pushovers) but it has a capability that was unused in H3: switching weapons when taking a lot of damage or just feeling threatened. It’s infinite shielding is pretty much the equivalent of Invincibility but it is still susceptible to death.

As for the Knights, wow they got a heck lot of advantages. Once again, I stress the need for Zealots having many more capabilities. They should be unique. This is where H2 and Reach failed imo. H2 Zealots were barely a threat, H2 Heretics only had different weapons, every Reach Elite had the same capabilities (firing guns faster than normally which was a CE Zealot exclusive, throwing grenades which was a CE Spec Ops exclusive, high damage melee, high alertness, fast movement which was a CE Zealot exclusive, ability to tell if the player had their scope on them which was a CE Zealot exclusive) with few exceptions.

Knights vs. Zealots needs to be the most badass fight in Halo games.

I am believing these new Promethean constructs (not actual Prometheans) would much deadlier than the Elites. I am saying this from a fiction standpoint of course as everything in the fiction is buffed to insane levels. That scattershot is going to be giving me nightmares.

What i want to know is that will we face ACTUAL Prometheans and the Didact? If so, than it wouldn’t matter if it was high ranking Elites or Spartans…

Note: Holy mother of…this website actually loaded for me. Must be all the traffic on teh forumz =.-.

I think the Knight’s dependence on enemy numbers will be their doom.

It’s only bad for me when I’m signed in. Speaking of which, I’m signing out.

Is there a image of this? o.o

I concur. Nothing was more badass than watching who would win. Well obviously it was always me. So I mean who lost first.

I doubt this as one Knight (though pre scripted event) was strong enough to knock back the Chief. A freaking Spartan II knocked back like a rag doll. Then we see a bunch of Pro Knights and Crawlers ambush the Chief (again one knocks him down) before the screen cuts out. I think they will be deadly.

Plus, Legendary Difficulty.

It’s universal for me. Lag all over the place  My connection isn’t the issue, so it’s all the new people here on waypoint excited about Halo 4.

Go to 6:53 and you’ll see a Knight butchering what i believe is an Elite.

Those who don’t know, yes you can Assassinate Promethean Knights.

Someone else beat me too it. But it appears the Knight is impaling the Elite from behind with his blade and tossing him away. Much like the Elite’s did to Spartan’s with the sword in Reach.

Bro, idk about you. But I’m thinking the Elite and Knight should be in custom’s. You want your gameplay balance you have War Game’s. We have our fun in Custom game’s.

From what I’ve read and seen, that is merely the worf effect. As you can see in the video, Chief took out the Knight without having to take out the Watcher first. Nonetheless, that ambush at the end is pretty scary.

Legendary might be a whole another beast for the right reasons. The emphasis on enemy numbers is a throw-back to CE and the enemy retreating behavior stringed with ambushes is a classic that Covies never used.

Neither is mine so that’s probably it.

I hope they’re a lot better then the elites, the elites shown in the videos were quite stupid and weak as always, bullet sponges with strong shields and good melee, but no teamplay or intelligence.
The new enemies at least have some degree of teamplay and support skills, and seems to be more versatile, and hence should be a challenge to the player, and pwn any covenant big time.

To be fair, it looks like the demonstration was on easy difficulty as the Chief is seen taking a bunch of hits with dropped shields while the enemies die very fast. I have a feeling that these new enemies will have stronger variants (like the blue ones we’ve seen) and won’t go down as easily as we have seen now.

Heroic and Legendary should be fun, i hope the difficulty for Halo 4 is increased from Reach. It be a shame the new enemy types are push overs on the higher levels.

It is most likely on Heroic with God mode on as per usual.

And in regards to the Elite being assassinated, that really doesn’t say much, also it is an Elite minor.

actually if you click that little Halo 4 image on the top of the screen you can get more info on the Promethean knight which is ten feet tall. I forgot the exact hight of the elite but they are not quite that tall. But i hope that the hunters are back and they kick the -Yoink- out of them a couple times in the game. It would be cool if you were getting overrun by like 10 or more then two hunters came and fought them hopefully killing them all.

Elites are about 8’6" that is close enough in size to be a good match.

I’m going to have to disagree since there’s more than one playthrough (courtesy of Halo Council news):

Damage (excluding the scripted stuff) looks like Normal difficulty.

I agree that the enemies shouldn’t be pushovers. Indeed, it should be a step up from Reach, but for the right reasons. Elites berserked so much in Reach it was a terrible shame taking advantage of them. Plus, I could alienate Covies by being partially emerged underwater. And seeing them fall to Hologram was amusing yet disappointing.

Elites in Reach were freaking great, along with the Hunters, people do not give them nearly enough credit.
