High Level UNSC Tactics in 2v2 Unarranged

Scenario:

So I’m playing my off race (Forge/UNSC) in 2v2 Unarranged, on Docks, opponent takes their expo around 3 min mark, PoR defending it. My ally is busy baking cookies or something so it’s 1v2. I’ve got 6 hogs and he upgrades his expo to a Keep so I really want to take it down before citadel. I carpet bomb it, finish it with hogs and back out, my factory is just finished but I’m broke and have 4 damaged hogs left.

What would you do next?

What I did next:

I decided to take our natural expo, get tech 3 and just kept pumping cany tanks until they rolled over but the wait between my initial hog rush and going back in with cany was agonising and against better opponents I’d have struggled.

It felt like the carpet bomb really set me back, then I’ve dropped another 2k resources into expanding and cany, but I was worried that on a single base I just wouldn’t have the money to break them. I’d love to hear what other people would have done in this situation, in particular, is bombing an expo worth it, or would you rather get tanks faster?

so what combo were you up against? a Prophet and?
Since there is a prphet on the enemy team i would have backed up expand and keep pumping hogs and try to put pressure on the guy that didn’t lose his expo, because he is basically untouched. Depending on how well im doing and how many hogs i would lose in the proces of this harassing/attacking, i would go gauss.

A prophet cant really do anything to stop your gauss. SO the only danger is the enemy UNSC (if there was a unsc). As long as you keep vehicle depots down long enough for you to get your warthog numbers up your fine.

As forge you can easily transition into tanks, but when you are facing 2 good opponents , 1 of them is going to get a lead on you anyway because you made hogs/carpet bombed. Therefore I would stick to warthogs and keep harassing as much as you can and pray your teammate makes some units

It was Prophet and Cutter (who went cobras). Honestly, in this instance it didn’t matter what the other guy was, they were both bad. I’m more concerned with getting into a UNSC sort of mindset when it comes to things like expanding, unit choice, when to use leader abilities etc, whilst putting on sustained pressure.

I used to play as the Prophet in 1s but got sick to death of hogs! So an opposing Prophet = hog start every time for me. I switched to tanks because i needed some meat in my army and my ally built 1 tank, 1 gremlin and 1 spartan in a 15 minute game. But now that I think about it, a faster expand + Gauss would have kept up the pressure on them far more and I could have supported them with hornets or tanks later.

Thanks for your comments. They’re appreciated
