I love halo wars 2. and I need tips or a mindset or anything like that to become a high level player and was wondering if anyone could help. I watched the BTC tournament and players like king of reason, yoda vids, metaloidmonkey, esl knife, udpu and others in the tournament are so good and I wanted to know if you amazing people have some pointers to help me out and others who read the comments, to become better. I tried doing what others did in the tournament but I still cant pull off what they do.
I’m not the highest Champion player, but I’d be happy to do some 1v1s with you to practice.

- shipmaster
- atriox
- decimus
fav playstyle: hit and run, flanking, being sneaky
hardest matchup: mostly cutter, and atriox at the moment
strongest position: late game and early (fist 8 min)
weakest position: mid game (where I usually loose)

Honestly in the BTC tournament things were different than like what all of us do consistently online in matchmaking. Having to play in 2v2 maps for 1v1 and then 3v3 maps for 2v2 along with other challenges really put Banished at an even greater advantage. Honestly for tips you didn’t really give us enough to go off, so I’m unsure if you are more into 1v1 or Teams. So I’ll just keep it general for the most part. Try to stick with 1 Leader to get comfortable with, probably between Cutter, Atriox and Colony which are overall solid leaders. Shipmaster is good in 1s and Decimus is good in Teams. Then understand what units are viable and what’s not. Such as playing Cutter you want to stick with infantry and not build Jackrabbits except 1 for scouting possibly. As banished you can start with some choppers, or boom into tech 2 units quickly. Just play and practice a lot, you should learn as you go.

Do I have access to this invitation as well?
3 Leaders: Colony, Atriox, Shipmaster.
Hardest Matchup: Shipmaster vs. Atriox or Atriox mirror.
Strongest: Early game and mid game. Can’t remember the last time I lost to a rush.
Weakest: If the game lasts longer than 15 minutes I’m at a great disadvantage.
Early: Send Grunts out to gather resources. Build a Chopper and send it to get the far cache of power. Build a Power Extractor. Build Harvesters until I have 3, build a mini-base, build a raid camp on the mini base. Build a second Extractor on my main. After this I double pump Grunts (with 3-4 suicide grunts) and capture power nodes.
Mid: After I tech to level 2 I build a Foundry and an Apex. Pump out Rangers (or Hunters if I see loads of Choppers). Build 2-3 Locusts and Engineers. Attack around the 7 minute mark. Take additional mini-bases and build Harvesters and one War Council on them.
Late: Depending on how the first engagement goes I either replace my dead troops with more of the same or build Banshees to conserve power, build an expo (I build one in the mid game if I’m Atriox). Tech to 3 and pump out Wraiths and counter units.
Pressure rather then be pressured. Make sure to keep your units together (power in numbers). Do not engage in a battle you know you won’t win.

sweet i am interested I will message you later tonight
Just message me on Xbl and I can help.
always send units to pick up resources early game it helps get your economy running faster
dont over commit your army on an attack patience is better than rushing
upgrade your units as well (individually and global)
learn to micro and split your units from incoming leader powers
dont get stuck on one type of army comp always be ready to switch it up
super units are great but they are more deadly with an army behind them
constantly scout and retake power nodes this also helps with distracting people to send their forces to those locations while you build up
use the garrisons to have a eye on what the enemy is doing
practice your speed as well the faster you get this going the better youll be
and really understand how each leader plays from advantages and disadvantages doing so will help you anticipate their next moves

Ok that would be a great help
On this note it would be nice to have unranked 1v1 playlist so you could play around and try things against decent to good players, or even earn up
Best way to improve is to play 1v1 and lose. After enough losses you eventually figure it out and start winning all your games.
