High GPU usage for Halo 3 Flight?

While I know the FPS in game runs really well for Halo 3 in the flight right now on PC, I am running on a RTX 2080 at 1440p 165 Hz on unlimited FPS and I noticed in the Task Manager, my GPU is running at 75-98 % usage! My FPS I am getting is between 200-330 FPS. To me that seems extremely excessive usage for this game and the usage needs to be toned down quite a bit! Is anyone else getting the same kind of GPU usage maybe not on the same exact hardware but on high end GPUs?

In the Retail build, I tested out Halo 2 Anniversary Campaign after I noticed this and in that game, I am only getting around 50-60% usage on the Anniversary graphics. H2A should be much more demanding that Halo 3. I’ll report it if other people are having a similar experience.

Turn on V sync and away it goes running about 60% GPU load at 3,840 x 2,160 @ 60fps V sync on If you leave it un-caped it will max out your GPU. Usage

Your GPU is supposed to max out when your framerate isn’t capped.

Halo 3 is the best optimized so far, thus it makes better use of the system.

High processor usage is a good thing. You want the performance you paid for right?

If you want to reduce the work your system does, cap the frame rate.

Also a game being more demanding of the system does not necessarily mean higher GPU and/or CPU usage. Also the most stressful games for the hardware are usually games with lower fidelity graphics and many things on screen at once, especially particle effects.

That’s… A GOOD thing…
GPU should ALWAYS be the bottleneck of your PC. I’m actually worried that you only get 80% usage.
What you DON’T want is high CPU/RAM or Disk usage.
