High FPS Doesn't Feel Smooth

I have an RTX 3070, i5 9600K, 16gb DDR4 RAM, an SSD, on a 240hz 1080p monitor. I’m getting lets say around 120-140fps in BTB, thing is, it doesn’t feel like 120-140 fps. It feels more like 60-70. Is anyone else have this weird stuttering issue? Or getting high frames but… it clearly not feeling like high frames? It almost feels like Reach in MCC PC when it would play at 144fps but that bug that made the world run at 60fps or whatever it was, that gave the game this stuttering that felt awful to play on. It’s not that bad, but there’s definitely some kind of problem. It happens more often in BTB than in 4v4.

Same feeling here. It really seems to be like Halo Reach when it cames out ! Clearly Halo 3 with 100fps looks smoother than Infinite with 200fps.

I got a 240hz screen, when I alt+tab to go on windows, i can see that my screen is not 240hz anymore, i guess there is an monitor frequency limit

Digital foundry covered this and I made a post about it. Essentially the animations are capped at 30 fps even though you have the game running at 144 fps or any other fps

There is an option for changing animation framerate in the settings. Mine is set on max. I haven’t noticed this issue on my end.

Does it consume too much more memory/affect performance?

My GPU is doing his best to get me 45-60 fps on low and with the current GPU market status its gonna be a while until i can make an upgrade

Dunno, I haven’t changed it. I still use a 1080ti and have most everything on either high or ultra and still get around 60fps most of the time.

Thought about turning the graphical settings down for more fps, just haven’t done it yet.

ty, it looks smoother i must say

I’ve had similar issues with my time spent playing. The game itself still hits a stable 90fps for me, but actual gameplay stutters so much that it feels like my mouse is snap-turning when I move it while firing. Same for when I aim down sights. I don’t get it.

I actually forced vsync in the nvidia control panel (turned off minimum fps and vsync, and unlocked fps in-game) which seems to have helped with some of the stuttering. I’ve read the Infinite has frame pacing issues but I don’t have the technical knowledge to confirm or deny that or how it’s affecting the game.

This is actually probably from the option that limits out of focus fps to 30.you can disable it if you want.

The other issue OP is talking about is that animation frame rate seems to be sub 60.there doesn’t seem to be much interpolation going on.

Honestly I’d say the game just doesn’t feel smooth in general. I only play at 1080 60hz and it feels more like 40 or 50 fps rather than a smooth 60, even when I lock it at 60. The game just really isn’t well optimized, and if I had to take a guess as to what’s going on with high framerates still not feeling smooth, I’d say it’s probably a frame pacing issue. I know the battlepass and customization is the “hot ticket” issue rn and I agree that it absolutely needs to be addressed, but I really hope the performance problems (and really just the technical problems in general) get more attention, otherwise this game might still have these problems even at launch on December 8th.

For reference, I’m playing on a 1070 and an i7-8700k. It’s not top of the line hardware, but it should at least be able to run this game on a mixture of mid and high settings at a solid 60.
