Well, what do you think? Do you want a cover system (mainly in terms of Halo 5) and/or a high amount of agility?
By the cover system, I mean like in ghost recon whereby you can run up to am area and then move in a locked area around the cover, or your own ideas for it.
In terms of agility, I was thinking of being able to climb on top of things such as crates, and when sprinting being able to slide over the top of low enough cover, and when sprinting being able to hold the crouch button and slide along (which could possibly lead to you to going to cover). Maybe have it so when you sprint jump into a ledge that you will just miss you can press a button and you will grab on to it. All that sort of stuff. Also being able to evade would be quite cool as it would make for some awesome dodging and could be useful for Machinimas. Although, there needs to be an stamina bar. These agility moves should be a available to all players, and not as AAs.
I think Halo might benefit particularly from a lot of agility based actions because your trying to make us believe we are a powerful super soldier, yet we are not too agile. Spartans are trained to be, so I feel that Halo could immerse the players more, make them feel more powerful and add more dynamic combat by having it. I also feel they should appear across all the modes, or at least the agility, otherwise there’s little point to adding it.
I know some will disagree, but those are some of my thoughts (and I’m entitled to my opinion), but I’m mainly interested in hearing yours.
When behind cover (not this cover system you’re referring to. I mean just going behind an object like a vehicle), certain weapons receive tracking which works at longer ranges instead of having to keep the crosshair on the enemy. Like this, only you can still get shot or enemies change their tactics so you have to go back to or get out of cover eventually.

We already have a quick strafe and floaty jump compared to other console shooters. It seems like an unnecessary addition and would most likely be more clunky and awkward than useful.

> High Agility: Fast movement (or Sprint now)

Yerp.
If map makers want you to be able to Sprint-Jump-Crouch over a crate, they’ll build the map so you can. No computer assisted cover or movement should be implemented. If you make the jump you make the jump, no pressing a button at the right time to perform a scripted animation that automatically does the act for you.
I like the idea of being very agile because, it would help make the player feel like a real super soldier i think. But I am not a fan of a cover system in Halo.
No thanks on the cover system. I’m beginning to hate cover systems in games now. Especially with third person games. People just love to sit in one cover spot and camp. The camera always peers over the cover, which isn’t realistic because when you’re taking cover, you aren’t supposed to see anything unless you poke your head out, which would leave you vulnerable to dying by a head-shot.

I understand what you’re saying, but I personally like it because then I can run and or shoot depending on my health

I understand now that us, the competitive crowd, are a minority here but please look at the situation through our eyes. You simply shouldn’t be able to see directions you’re not looking if we’re going to zoom out into third person. And as others pointed out, we don’t need a cover system. People can hug the walls and crouch for themselves.
A cover system will not work for a multiplayer environment. It promotes even more camping and doesn’t work well from a first person perspective. In a third person perspective it gives the person a wider range of vision and the ability to see places they aren’t even turning.
We don’t need a cover system, we have crouch. Even if we did have one, how would it work? Halo is a FPS game, it would be awkward, unless the camera goes in to third person mode while we take cover, but still, we don’t actually need it.
I have played all 3 Gears games a crap tonne of times. I can say this game does not need a cover system lol. Maybe a spin-off third-person Halo game with a cover system. But not in the trilogy.
