Looks like so far DMR is winning the popularity contest vs. BR. It does seem to be more versatile. A lot more players are using DMR vs. BR. This also means that there are a lot of DMRs on the ground
This fact does present an advantage for BR start: it’s much easier to replace your secondary by picking up an DMR from the ground. If you are a fan of BR+DMR combo, players with BR start can basically have that for free most of the time. Players with DMR start on the other hand have to select Firepower to make that possible.
Doesn’t matter to me, i’m boss with both dmr and br. =)
It works both ways. I can just as easily start with DMR and pick up a BR. Your argument is rather insignificant, as the DMR is more powerful overall.
I’ll take the DMR in any situation over the BR. I have been doing very well with it at close, mid, and far range.
I use both anyways, DMR is better for longer range, rarely I use it, but it helps for when you run out of ammo too =]
Yeah, I would never drop my magnum for the BR.

My point is that DMR is much easier to find on the ground that BR, and therefore much easier to pick up.
I am not arguing BR is better than DMR. As I said in OP, DMR does seem to be more versatile than BR.

Ok, so if you agree that the BR is an inferior weapon, then why would you suggest starting with it? I would understand starting with the DMR, then picking up the BR as a backup, maybe.
I guess that I did not make my main point clear.
To get to DMR+BR for DMR start, a player has to find a BR on the ground, and vice versa. Because DMR is much more popular among players, it is much easier to find DMR than BR. This is what I mean by “hidden” advantage for BR start.
BR is decent against DMR unless for long range, so the disadvantage of starting with BR is insignificant enough to justify the above said advantage.
Same can be argued for an AR loadout, but for much lesser degree.
