Hi Res Halo Soundtrack

Hello everybody

Does anyone know if high resolution files exist for halo soundtrack ?
I already have all the cd’s so i’m just curious to see the difference.
Thank’s guys for your help

You could rip your CD with error correction to get near bit-perfect playback on your PC (at the very least it won’t be worse that CD), but the only way you’re really going to get a higher quality version is if you buy them on Vinyl. Sharing stuff like this or asking to share stuff like on Waypoint isn’t allowed though, just to make sure we’re not heading down that path

CDs are pretty high res, depending on how you listen to them. Rip them with a “lossless” format keeps as much fidelity as you can, but of course the file size increases greatly. Compression formats like mp3 and mpeg are smaller in size but at the cost of losing some sound quality, though most headphones won’t pick up that loss.

Unless you find vinyl tracks, like stckrboy said, you won’t get any better than CDs, provided you have headphones good enough to pick up all the sounds.

I wasn’t asking for sharing those files, just to know if they exist. I know download is bad ^^
I’m looking for buying some vinyl editions but i need a new hi-fi installation so that’s another problem.

Thank’s for your help guys

It’s worth keeping in mind that there’s no definite objective difference in audio quality between CD and vinyl, since both are affected by different effects that determine how accurately the source audio is reproduced. A vinyl recording may have a better quality if a better mastering process has been used than for the CD, but this is not necessarily the case if the CD has already been properly mastered. In case the CD and the vinyl come from the same master, the perceived quality difference is highly subjective, and has most likely more to do with unique distortion characteristics of the vinyl format and the placebo effect, rather than any objective quality difference.

There are good reasons to enjoy vinyl, but one shouldn’t make the mistake of considering CD as an inferior audio format. Most digital audio formats these days (including high bitrate MP3) are so good that very few people can actually tell the difference when put into a blind test. CD is as high fidelity as you should realistically care about.

I’m not aware of any dsd files available for any of the Halo soundtracks.

From my own personal experience I can tell you that in order to hear a difference between red book cd and any kind of 24/96 file then you would have to have playback equipment of a calibre that only oligarchs can afford, and you would also need the ears of a twenty year old. I have access to one of those things and absolutely could not tell the difference between the two. Others claim they can, and whether that’s legitimate or just a rich guy trying to justify his wretched excess I could not say. On my equipment, with my hearing in the state that it’s in, there is just no justification in spending the kind of money dsd files command. And the odds of me running out and buying a pair of Magico speakers and a couple of Plinius monoblocks any time soon is about 1 in a million.

well the only halo soundtrack i found in hi res was from my favorite halo, halo 4 soundtrack
