HI needs to be like a mix between H:ce and Reach

Halo Infinite needs to be a mix between Halo ce and Reach about the atmosphere and armor/weapon designs. What’s your opinion?

It kinda already is. Everything campaign related is confirmed to be heavily inspired by CE and they also confirmed Reach like customization.

Plus the Discover Hope trailer features the Reach Assault Rifle.

IMO this is definitely not what it needs nor what it should be.
H:I should be H:I period.
What it needs to be is unique and to be able to stand on its own and not a copy or a mix of older titles.

It should be a mix of ALL the games so far, bringing the best of each

It’s amusing to see all the love for Reach now vs all the hate it got at launch. I guess the player base had a major change when Reach launched. If Infinite takes anything from Reach it should be the customization and gritty atmosphere. Hopefully the things like armor abilities, bloom, and load outs are left in the past

It really is weird seeing the ‘Halo cycle’ come full circle. I agree with you about the customization. They said something along the lines of “fans of Reach will be pleased with the customization”, so I’ve got my fingers crossed.

Well sort of:
Halo 2 quality maps…
Halo 1’s amazing campaign story
Halo 3’s abilities
Halo Reach’s forge

Those are what would probably make Halo Infinite great but only if done right.
I honestly can’t think of anything from 4,5 that made the experience better.

Can you elaborate? That could mean endless things I’m not sure exactly in what regard you mean.

I agree about CE. CE is my favorite campaign and I hope infinite’s campaign feels like CE. I also think it would be cool if infinite had os and camo power ups that you can nade or rocket. No other halo does this and it is fun. It makes it more competitive and fun when fighting for power ups. Also, if power ups had static timers it would be better. Everyone would always be fighting for power ups. Not just the last person to pick it up.

I think what you’re describing is Halo 3.

I meant in halo ce you can nade or rocket a power up and the power up will launch towards you if you do it right. Static spawn times are in all game modes in ce and that makes it fun for competitve and casual players.

For me, it was amusing to see the hate it got period. This game was THE game for my friends and I and I had no complaints. Years later when I started to use forums and Reddit, I was totally confused when I came across hate for it lmao.

Like Halo 4 and 5. But they’re not halo game.

Yes, I like the dark atmosphere and realistic design in Halo Reach. I hate the cartoon in h4 and h5. But the bloom and armor abilities ruin the gameplay. In my opinion halo 5 HCS mod has the best gameplay in the saga.

Halo Infinite needs to be it’s own game, while also appreciating the history behind it. So far it seems to be doing an awesome job at that. It brought back Master Chief’s iconic Mark VI armor, it has the design of Halo Reach’s Assault Rifle, it’s got wildlife, it seems to be focusing on the Halo ring, etc. Halo Infinite has the potential to be the best Halo game in the series. I just hope that modern AAA practices don’t ruin it (such as lootboxes.)

Except they are. But that wasn’t my point.
It shouldn’t copy or immitate any of the previous games period.
Again, Halo Infinite should be Halo Infinite.
Not CE, not 2, not 3, not ODST, not Reach, not 4, not 5.
H:I needs to be original before anything else.

I think all it “needs” to be is good, and making it an homage/reclamation on the sensibilities that make CE and Reach both fan favorite games in the series is only one way this end goal can be accomplished.

I would be interested in hearing which aspects of which game you think Infinite should incorporate, but again, I’m missing the necessity argument you’re making. I think personally that Infinite would be better off taking the triumphant tone of Halo 3’s campaign (with desperation at times that nears on Reach), but having the robust and community-friendly Firefight, matchmaking, Armor Customization/in-game economy and custom games suite from Halo: Reach.

If you want to make the claim that Infinite should represent a mix of two prior entries in the series, elaboration upon what mixture of features and sensibilities you’d like to see back would be helpful.

Sorry , but taking anything more than basic aesthetic choices from Reach is a recipe for disaster. The game was the first move away from Halo game mechanics and design at it’s core. Uneven starts , abilities , broken and unbalanced mechanics , horrible evolution of Firefight (I hate score attack and fights you can’t seem to lose) , Loadouts , bloom , sprint. The list goes on.

The Fail of Reach , was creating a pre-sequel with more advanced tech than the first game in the series , and then innovating from said PRE-SEQUEL to create the FOURTH game in the main timeline of the series. Who sees a series and decides to iterate from the prequel? It would be like Return of the Jedi skipping Empire and basing everything as if the Deathstar had just blown up in a New Hope. Or going from Fellowship to Return of the King and wondering what the hell happened to Gandolf? It makes no sense.

No , series wise and for the franchise going forward ; as much as I dislike it ; the best thing for 343I to do is stick to their guns and finish their story and be consistent. They already have issues with how they handled the backlash of H4 , if they do it again , how does anyone trust 343I to give them money again. This will be their third attempt and they are still trying to figure out what works? Not a good look for a “Flagship franchise”.

You didn’t understand. Halo Infinite needs to be more mature like Halo Reach, not a cartoon game like halo 4 and 5. I love Halo Reach aesthetic and dark atmosphere, they are the best in my opinion.

Already is similar to CE and reach so I heard. I’m hoping it’s not fully though because I like seeing change. As long as they don’t ruin halo.
