Hi 343. I would have monetized today if I had the option to buy individual items

There are some neat items in the shop that I could see myself buying, but they’re bundled with so much crap that I’m not interested in. Let’s break down what you could have gotten from me today:

  • Mithril VIsor - Soldier Armor Set Bundle - We’re gonna start off with the big bundle. That mithril visor looks really cool and I could see myself forking over 400-500 credits for it. The bundle itself isn’t bad, but I’m not about to pay for: An ugly helmet that I will never wear, an attachment for the ugly helmet that I’ll never wear, an “epic” armor coating that’s basically the same color skin as the Willow Tea coating that I earned over a week ago, a couple mediocre shoulder pads, and a “meh” stance with the rocket launcher. I’m not about to drop 2000 credits for this.

  • Legend Visor - Special Delivery Bundle - Hey look! There’s another sick looking visor that I could see myself dropping some credits for. This is the one that I was most tempted to buy because it’s not quite as expensive as the 2000 credit bundle, and maaaaaaaybe I could be excited enough by the visor to just bite the bullet. But I don’t care about the weapon attachment or the SUPER generic rifle stance. Again, if I had the option to just purchase the visor, I might’ve dropped 400-500 credits for it. Right now, I’m not spending 1000 credits for a single visor and a weapon attachment that I might use until something better comes along.

  • Clonely Bear - Daisy Delights Bundle - And the final thing I might’ve purchased is this goofy looking bear for the Mark VII chest. I’d have easily dropped 500 credits for this, but I don’t have that option. What else is stopping me? The flower attachments are horrendous looking, and one of them is also a Mark VII chest: so I couldn’t equip that and the bear at the same time. The heart attachment for weapons is okay looking I guess. And then we finish up with a terrible “epic” backdrop. I’m not spending 1500 credits for one item.

Can you guys just give me the option to buy individual items from these bundles? You could’ve gotten 1300-1500 credits from me today, but now you’re not getting any. I’m sure there are gonna be players that gotta catch 'em all who will buy big bundles to really customize their spartans, but you’re missing out on players such as myself that want to really pick and choose what they want from the shop.

Hell, putting individual price tags on these items might even spur players to buy bundles if they could see how much they’re “saving” by it being bundled.

Please get your shop in order. Thanks.

They are preying on people that will cave and buy the whole bundle for just the one item. It’s this way on purpose.

I’m aware that this is the thinking, but there’s a reason virtually every other game allows the purchase of individual items as well as bundles. If your monetization system only caters to one audience, people that cave and buy full bundles, you’re gonna miss out on customers that prefer spending money in other ways. I think their overall ARPU (average revenue per user) would increase if they gave users the option to buy individual items as well.

It would also increase if they

  1. Increased the value (and price) of the battlepass - most who would pay 10 would pay 20 for all that, but it would need to be worth it. Many seem to think the current one is barely worth $10.
  2. Decreased the price of items in the shop and made the bundles actual sales (way more people would cave - vote shows 90% of people would pay $5 but less than 10% would pay $20 for an armor set)
  3. Made the bundles actual DEALS instead of standard because that incentivises people to actually buy them

Everything they are selling right now is near pure profit - it’s predominantly pre-existing assets, although they were touched up (aka RUINED like the reach armors), but I might pay $20 to have one of these models CUSTOM MADE for me. These are way overvalued and it’s 100% because they have a monopoly on their ingame customizations
