What would people rather pay for?
What would be a system that you could see yourself constantly putting money into this game?
This isn’t criticism just want ask people and get there thoughts

Nothing, really. 343 hasn’t shown me that they are worthy of Halo yet, even if Infinite is enjoyable. There are a bunch of overall design issues when scrutinized that I can’t spend a penny on this yet.
Free to play is my preferred system. It means I can pay exactly what I want, if anything. Sometimes I play a game, it doesn’t mesh so I pay nothing. Others I want to actively pay to support the game.
Halo Infinite I have spent $20 in the store and pre-ordered the game. I’ll probably spend more over time. So ultimately this system will cost me more than if it was just $60 for everything, but I’m more than okay with it as it usually means the game gets more frequent updates and better support.
If this game doesn’t then I’ll be dropping it and playing something else.
But, and in no way am I trying to insult you,
What does that even mean?
Reach was created by bungie, ODST was created by bungie. They both received backlash and current bungie wouldn’t quite get the halo recipe down I’m afraid (strictly my opinion). So what studio deserves halo?
I understand the design choices, game play, game mechanics, and story directions where rough but with infinite I see a noticeable back track that does actually say “we are listening” in both design and gameplay (though FAR from perfect). Hell they even went as far to have (possibly) killed Locke as little extra “we hear ya, you don’t like em”.
So I just would like for you to elaborate a bit. If you feel like it. If not, thanks though
Buy to play is better…ftp models are trash and NO ONE wanted it!!!
Some of it is that every UI is still a slog to go through and there is a lack of community-oriented features from previous games. As for gameplay, Sprint and Clamber are still mandatory and not part of a secondary Equipment slot, and thus limits the options players have for Custom Games. Custom Games settings are missing a lot as well. Many of my issues are regards with how many Customs and core gameplay options players have and how intuitive the UI is to go through. As for Forge, we’ll see.
EDIT: Forgot that map design is still impacted negatively by Clamber and a lack of Nade Jumping
EDIT 2: And the BTB maps
In $20 bundle I’d like to see the following.
A full armor set (helmet, shoulders, chest, and legs with attachments that can be applied to all armor cores.
An armor effect & death effect.
An armor coating with a unique pattern and design (no simple recolors or two-tones) that can be applied to all armor cores, weapons and nameplates/emblems.
A nameplate/emblem.
A gunbuddy or whatever they’re called in this game.
The option to purchase the individual parts of a bundle at a fraction of the total price.
If we see these changes I can see myself consistently spending $20 every bundle or so.
at absolute worst, I’d rather pay for a monthly subscription that allowed you access to unlocking every single item the game has to offer without timed challenges… I’m ok with 10-15 USD every month and a half or so if it means the greedy and predatory FOMO business practices are taken out… I’m all for Supporting F2P games at a reasonable rate, I’m not asking for everything to be free, but time is not free, especially mine as I work for a living as do many others, so 343i and Microsoft need to be more reasonable with their monetization…
You’ve asked a brilliant question. There are people answering it, but the vast majority (in the wild, not this post) are just saying they don’t like it. I’ve been one of them, because it’s not the only issue to cover.
So thank you for the opportunity, ima take it! Excuse me for taking a while to get to what you asked, imo, everything is part of a bigger issue, so you can’t answer it in isolation.
A) Start with the non MTX / payment, core progression and customisation. I’m talking either making challenges less specific, so they don’t require certain specific play types, or doing away with them entirely and rewarding xp by gameplay directly, every medal, every kill, every cap, every game.
Then, move on to what that progression gets you.
From day dot, level zero, let players pick from a reasonable colour pallette and assign those colours to armour elements flexibly. From day dot, level zero, let players utilise the full array of basic MK7 armour items, and the classic MK core armours (think Chief).
Bam. Player agency in appearance and customisation from the very start. People mostly have access to what they’ve always had, except for Reach, MCC and H4/H5 armours. But what about your XP? That’s for your free Battlepass Tracks, or, an XP “savings account” for later use on Battlepasses, free or otherwise.
Let players mix and match emblems like in prior games, to create their own.
Then, and only then, do we look at Monetisation.
B) Battlepass.
I like a Battlepass in F2P. I get it. And I’m ok with it lasting a season, taking a while to work through.
You need two tracks, like we have, every third or fifth gives both free and paying players, an item of MK7, H4, or H5 armour that exists beyond the basic.
Every single level of paid however? That delivers seasonal armour. In this case, Reach.
NONE of that classic Reach armour is available in the shop. If it was in Reach, it’s in the Reach Battlepass.
Down the line, you do seasons on key Spartans, Blue Team, Red Team etc.
But those passes are about $10 and they contain ALL armour associated with that game/book/team etc.
C) Shop
This one is easy.
Lower your prices so that they’re actually microtransactions. You’ll see more purchases.
Sell only new, special armour, Comp armour etc.
Sell not colours, but coating styles / patterns.
Do sell colour pallettes, if you must, but colours… I don’t like it. They’re colours.
Sell new AI and announcer options, Sarge, Cortana, Lord Hood, Buck etc etc.
Sell bling, weapon charms, weapon finisher animations (though I’m not a fan of these), shield effects, fuzzy dice and aerial bobbles, if you must, though… Can I toggle its visibility off please?
Sell pre and post game stances.
See a pattern? It’s the stuff that really only affects you, not how you appear to others. Your personal story.
Be creative,
D) Let people play the way they want. Don’t force them into limited buckets or give them challenges that encourage certain behaviours, just reward them for playing.
Now, is that easy? I don’t know. Like 343 said, stuff takes time. But for my money, the issues in Infinite are all interlinked, and will only be solved when you deal with all of them together.
Which might well be what 343 are doing, and why they’re saying it’ll be a while.
But, it would be good for us to know the plan. As soon as they’re able to share it.

New maps
A full-priced game, that a shop doesn’t dictate the direction of the game. There are ways to go about things without making a player feel like they are just a cow.
There is nothing wrong with having a shop in a game as long as it’s actually being used for its intended purpose, to create content for the game, to move the game forward looking for new fresh ideas to keep a players interest creating content that keeps them engaged in that content.
Not many companies seem to know how to do that these days or they are unwilling to.
IMO
2 Give options to have an alternate path to earn rewards in the game. Shops should always have in-game currency to where players can earn by playing the game. Not the best example, but most items that can be bought through the shop in Warframe can be acquired by grinding.
These are the main important things to me. I want to enjoy the game, not just feel I’m being manipulated by a business…
As a Halo veteran the only money I’ve put into the game and would do so again would be something worth while. DLC maps or add on campaigns. This whole store where the corpate side of 343 and Microsoft are nearly forcing people to spend $20 here and $10 there is ridiculous. Money adds up and I’d rather pay for something that would be worth it than let’s say two grenades painted to look like pineapples
for the moment no, I paid for the BP but unless it improves I’m not buying anything else in this game.
What I would have paid for/still willing to pay for.
Waiting a year to cut Last Gen consoles. Which wont happen. So
An Xbox SX bundle with the full Game and Access to the missed battle passes with instant progression with what I have already played through.
Give me an actual release with all the Excitement they really should have for a release.
I would love to see cross-core customization and shop prices reduced by 25-50%. That is good enough for me tbh
I’ll pay for armor and such if the prices, value, and store are fair.
As it stands right now I don’t feel any of it is fair or hold particularly good value.
If this game kept the same credit/EXP system from the past games, but made it so that I can only use the credits/EXP in the shop if I have the battle pass, I would pay a decent amount
I’d rather buy a full game and know what I’m getting rather than the F2P model where you’re just being milked for every past penny. Follow that up with DLC/Expansion Packs that are also complete packages, and not trying to squeaze all of my money from me.
If this requires the game being $80, that’s fine. DLC $40 - $50 also fine.
And let me unlock content the way I want. Don’t give me specific weapon challenges or games type challenges. Telling me how I need to play is the quickest way to for me to just stop.
Couldn’t agree more with this statement, no-one will ever make a Halo that pleases everyone. Infinite has definitely been able to capture a wider net.
Ok cool. Thank you
