HEY! Imagine that!

Hello, folks!

I don’t post a lot, nor do I play a whole lot anymore, but I felt compelled to share my recent experience.

I noticed after a few games recently that many more people are…

wait for it…

…just a little longer…

USING MICS!!!

THIS is what was missing for me. That hole. That emptiness that I felt. In every game I played in the past week, at least one person on my team had a mic and was using it. Teamwork!

To those who use a mic, I truly thank you. You have rejuvenated my Halo experience.

Thank you!!

(Yes, there are still the little nit-picky things that annoy the living crap out of me in Halo 4, but I have gotten over it and have accepted this diamond covered in a large amount of crap that can simply be wiped off)

As a mutie. the reason i don’t use mics is because of the constant trash talk, and youthful ignorance that permeates most of XBL. it is for that reason that I have not used a mic outside of a party for like two years. if I had it my way I would be talking to teammates all day. I apologize that my people have plagued you so with there silence. But I am happy that you also have been having a good time with halo as of late.

Yeah i love that more people are using mics now. I have a lot more fun playing when I’m talking with people than when everyone is quiet.

I like the teamwork and just fun that comes out of it, but I also like the trash talk that naturally happens. It’s funny to hear butthurt people, but also fun to get laughed and mocked at when you mess up. The only people I hate hearing are the whiny -Yoink!- kids who cuss and scream a ton. But that’s why we can mute people.

that’s why they invented the mute button so you can mute kids and trash talkers and racist people.

There are a lot of jerks with microphones though. Sometime I talk and bam. I use microphone a fair amount.

I use a mic when absolutely necessary. A quick bullet and point of the weapon is good enough for most people.

Man, do I miss Halo 3. That game had a TON of players using mics. Reach was a bit less, but you could still run into others occasionally with a mic on. It’s just almost nonexistent these days. :\

I use a mic all the time. I do have my settings as party only so I don’t have to hear the other team.

Nearly everyone I game with on a regular basis has a mic. This makes it SO much easier to play and WIN.

When people know callout, strategies, etc., it just makes for a good game.

I’ve won plenty enough games were people on my team weren’t so skilled, but due to communication, we still win.

Whenever it comes to randoms in the party, if they act up, I just mute them. Really, it’s not a big deal at all.

If a random is quiet though, then I’m sure to back the party out after the game is done. No reason to game with someone who can’t contribute verbally to win. Someone who doesn’t talk, even when their actions are well intended, can totally screw up a strategy for winning.

It’s why I rarely go into a game without a full team.

I have a mic, but I don’t talk to other people just for the sole fact that all they do is trash talk and complain. If I am talking to anyone in Halo 4, they are my friends, and we are all in a party so we don’t have to deal with those people.

My friends in my life don’t play Halo. So literally every Halo friend on XBL has been met through the use of mics, teamwork, and simply making friends by having fun. If nobody used mics, I would have nobody to play Halo 4 with; not that I have a whole lot of people any way. (This experience I speak of was playing solo, at first)

Although my topic is based on my huge appreciation for those who use mics, I understand and agree that there are very annoying people out there that use them. But this should not keep you from using a mic and communicating with your teammates and potentially making friends! Like a few before me have posted in this topic, all you have to do is mute them; not a big deal at all, and that’s what I do.

I absolutely WELCOME trash talk. I can take it and dish it. But, of course, if it crosses the line, all I have to do is mute and move on.

Again, I seriously want to thank each and every person who uses a mic. You truly contributed to a rich experience that I want to have again and again. Like someone said, it brought me back to my Halo 3 days and how much fun I had back then. The annoyances about Halo 4, that I have, simply deflated and were out of mind this past week due to the enormous increase in fun I had!

I hope as many people as possible have this change in experience and hopefully this can carry over to Halo 5 and we can bring HALO back!

I myself have noticed more and more people using mics. However I always have to question whether using their mic / kinect speaker is intentional. I question this because they don’t make any effort to communicate with you.

I’m usually cautious when plugging my mic in for game chat because the game is usually full of premature youths or the even more embarrassing 23 year old racist trash talkers.

Also when matched with players with 0.36 KDs (pretty much every game) and their most used weapon is the Gravity Hammer / Sticky Grenades, its probably best you keep them as far away from the enemy as possible if you want any chance of winning the game. I don’t think using call outs would be very useful if they don’t know them in the first place. They would probably be busy in the middle of chasing a player 4 times around the map anyway.

Here’s how I deal with trashers on Halo 4 Live, just mess their game up for them.

A little tough love with civil mouth ain’t bad. Some people need the humility beaten into them.

I will be getting on again later tonight to play, so I HOPE HOPE HOPE you all will be using your mics!

I seriously can’t tell you enough how much fun I had. 1000% improvement in this game when people communicate!

I got no prob with people using their mics. I find that it does help with teamwork. IF the dude with the mic is actually talking about the game, or if he is actually talking… don’t know how many people i have muted cause i could hear their kids in the background screaming, or talking to a buddy about work, or they were coughing/chewing/messing with something and their mic kept picking it up. That is irritating beyond belief.

Which leaves you at a disadvantage anyway. I’d rather stay in a party and talk to my friends over a bunch of randoms.

One time on Halo 4 I kept on hearing these old people talk about the Healthcare reform.

Yep, nothing changes from the Halo 2 era lol.

All my friends from previous Halo’s have either moved onto other game types, or wandered back to the old games. In fact, Hulu/Netflix/other vids is probably the biggest category now.

I use a mic all the time, and try to find new gaming friends that way. If no one on my team is using one, I will sometimes make call-outs anyway, so I don’t forget to when I do play with friends…

I appreciate people like you! I do the same. Even if no one has their mics on, I communicate anyway and I know it helps, and it has the potential to encourage others to turn their mic on.

I know that I have communicated to teammates with no mics, but they still hear me. Many times I have protected weapons and kept them from disappearing and have told others to come get them, and they respond more often than not, by coming to get the weapons.

I play solo almost always and that’s why it’s such a big deal for me to have others use mics. The game is so much better. I have a few people on my friends list that play, but I don’t play enough to have the time to wait for someone to finish the game they are in, or wait for their other buddy who wants to play, and by the time you get a team together, you could have played two games. I just wish everyone used mics!

I rarely, if ever, use my microphone while playing alone because I should not have to be subjected to various comments and phrases relating to my gender. Having sexist comments thrown at me or even other players(“oooh you just got offed by a woman!”) is one of the best ways to have me associate with the game in a negative way.

I have not noticed a difference. I usually refrain from using my mic to avoid constant trash talk or immature behaviour and trolling, and it’s lame to talk to people who won’t talk with you.

Having an encounter with a friendly person and talking with him or her is an awesome experience, however.
