Okay, so we have the Light Rifle, DMR, Battle Rifle and Covenant Carbine. We want to balance these weapons perfectly as we promised to the community. So, let’s get to it!
So, the Battle Rifle is supposed to be your mid-range weapon, and is supposed to fill the role of your ‘Mid range go-to weapon’.
The DMR is supposed to be your long range weapon, and is meant to fill the role of your, well, long range weapon! Not meant to stand up to the BR at mid-range.
The Light Rifle is more of a cross between the Battle Rifle and DMR; It has burst fire, 5sk when unscoped, 4sk when scoped. However, it has much less range than the DMR.
The Covenant Carbine is renowned for the fast kill time and mid-range effectiveness it possesses.
So, I have a brilliant idea to balance these weapons perfectly. Here it goes!
Battle Rifle - useless compared to DMR at mid range, long range and close range
Light Rifle - Stands a slight chance against the DMR at long range, still beaten at mid/close range.
Covenant Carbine - LOL Why did we bring this weapon back again? Let’s give it the longest kill time and more shots to kill than all the other precision weapons.
DMR - Beats everything in every scenario, wrecks vehicles, shortest kill time aside from the scoped Light Rifle (Which has less range), no recoil, bloom is only cosmetic and let’s give it an overdose of bullet magnetism. Oh, and let’s make it shoot across the map. Because that’s fun, right? Not being able to move through most spaces in the maps is soooo much fun!
Well guys, I think we did a brilliant job on balancing this game. It’s like, we learnt soooo much from Reach’s mistakes.
