Seriously…
Between the local split-screen (sprint too among other things), people just need to quit complaining.
Just enjoy the art of the craft they are trying to create. Try to understand where they are coming from and things from their perspective. Try to understand the complexity of what they are trying to accomplish. Try waiting to see more of the game to see what they are talking about. Give things a chance. Try to remind yourself that these people at 343 are gamers too and professionals that know much more than we do about the specifics that go into such decisions.
On face value, would they also like to have local split-screen? YES, they would like to BUT they don’t because they have REASONS… people just think they forgot, got lazy, don’t care, yatta yatta yatta yatta.
Some people here repeatedly chant the we want we want we want ‘FOR THE GAMERS!’ banter. You people are never satisfied and think life is just a simple ‘check yes for local split-screen or check no for local split-screen’. They have reasons. If they could have everything you could ever want in a game, every feature, ever single bell and whistle… they would. Again, they have reasons.
Also, quit making it seem so simple to drop certain frame rates, graphics, or whatever to make split-screen available. Do you actually know what they are trying to achieve or what’s going on in the game? Are you there to actually understand why certain technological decisions are made? If you know it all then take your time and head right on over to 343 and show them all the magic that you have to offer. I bet they’d be delighted if you had real practical solutions but chances are you’d walk out of there thinking “Huh… that makes sense now.”
So ‘complainers’ (yes I know I’m hypocritically complaining right now myself), just for once let the game come out and embrace the vision that they have been working on for years now. Be excited to experience the next amazing Halo journey they will offer us. I understand sticking up for being ‘wronged’ or ‘cheated’ but really… are you being personally ruined this much by facts and information you’re not even fully aware of or an experience you have yet to even try?
I have ALWAYS valued split-screen and wish it for all Halo games BUT I’m a realistic gamer too that has an open mind for what industry professionals are trying to achieve. If after the fact I am not pleased and am let down… then let’s talk.
For now, step out of the knee jerk society we live in and give 343 a chance to present the art they’ve been working so hard to create for us.
