In your recent update playlist, you mentioned that you’re going to tweak Ranked, so Onyx players can’t play with Bronze, Silver, or Gold ranked players in your Fireteam. My question is, what the hell am I supposed to play now?
I (Onyx) play Infinite with my sister (Gold 1) and our best friend (Silver 3) and we only like to play matches with BR starts, because we’ve been playing with BR starts for the last 16 years. We have absolutely no interest in playing in a playlist with AR starts (unless we’re forced to for challenges.) Even if we were interested in playing AR starts, most of the time there is 1 BR on the map, so 8 people are fighting for that 1 BR.
Since you guys, for whatever the hell reason, have decided that AR starts is a good idea and refuse to provide us a non-ranked BR start quickplay playlist, then we are forced to play Ranked (no, Team Slayer sometimes giving us BR starts isn’t good enough).
You leave us 3 options:
Make a smurf account and make sure I never go beyond Gold 6.
Intentionally do bad and lose until my rank is below Gold 6.
Stop playing Halo: Infinite until you get your head out of your -Yoink!- and put more BRs on the map or provide us with a BR, or Commando (I’m not picky), start Quickplay playlist.
I understand that you don’t want players to abuse the ranking system to reach Onyx. Even though I’m in Onyx, I never intentionally abused the ranking system. It was just an inevitability, because we only play Ranked. I’d gladly have my rank removed if it meant I can continue to play with my Fireteam and have BR starts.
I don’t want to hurt other players who are trying to rank up, but I want to keep playing Halo: Infinite with my sister and our friend. I genuinely enjoy Halo: Infinite and I would like to keep playing it, but I’m not dealing with AR starts. I’m not dealing with fighting everyone for the 1 BR on the map.
In other games a system like this is totally normal to prevent players from abusing the system, 343 does one thing right and suddedly people are angry. I don’t undestand.
However i agree about AR starts not being good. I suggest you stop playing if you don’t like it
It’s because people think you’re a booster lol. They have no idea how HARD it is to win with a TRUE silver or bronze player on your team. It’s literally a 4v3, 4v2 or 4v1 in my experience. These guys literally do like 600 damage all match. All you plat players, who complain about this so much, have to do is double team the onyx player (you should be doubling people if you want to get better anyway). Any of you random plats should be able to 1v3 silveries or bronzies, they are B.A.D.
Oh well, ranked can enjoy it’s lower population lol.
I’ll agree with that. I enjoy how backbreaking hard it is to win and my Fireteam has gotten so better playing in my “lobbies”. I do genuinely feel bad that I’m screwing up ranked for everyone, but I don’t have a choice. I’m not going to fight 7 people for 1 BR on the map. That’ll turn me into a toxic -Yoink!- real fast.
It sounds like those situations where it’s not possible to fix a problem without hurting everyone in the long run.
Have you ever experienced those situations in school were because one kid did something bad with something, they decided to take it away from everyone and not just that one kid?
I kinda wished they would give us a loadout with the rifles. I love playing with a BR myself. Prefer it over the AR. Why not just let us make three different loadouts. Some maps and games are better with an AR and some with the BR. The commando is basically the middle ground for the 2 rifles. Also, where’s the DMR?? In the begining i thought the commando was the DMR, but its full auto, wtf?
Playing with a gold and silver whilst you’re an onyx means you’ll be rinsing lower skilled players allowing your sister and friend to essentially Smurf your games and make them easier.
If you want to play ranked you should get some onyx friends or play alone. Attentively play social. This is such a non issue.
The whole point of ranked is to play against similar skilled players as you.
Then give me an unranked playlist with BR starts. If I had a social playlist with BR starts, then I wouldn’t play ranked. I’m not playing ranked to stroke my ego, I’m playing it, because I’ve been doing BR starts since Halo 2!
Same. We mainly just played ranked for br starts season 1. No behemoth is a plus too.
I don’t feel too bad messing up people’s ranked experience because it’s a nonsense system to begin with. It just shows where you fall skill wise in the game, I already know I’m up there, doesn’t matter what my exact csr, I’m not competing to go for #1 on a leaderboard, neither is anyone who was complaining about party “boosters”.
Not to mention there’s people out there that know how to manipulate mmr, check halo tracker cross play leader board. #1 player pretty much only plays solo against gold’s, plats and diamonds, one who only plays 4v3 and he’s always on the 4, can’t be by chance when it’s 95% of his games. I’ve seen half a dozen others like him in season 2. Cheaters with aim bot or wall hack, though I mainly find them in lss or ffa. On topic for ranked though - no ranked rejoin, frequent pc crashes, the game randomly splits parties anyway and puts friends on the other team in ranked lol.
Who cares about a rank when you have stuff like that going on. But yea let’s make a change so people who happen to be friends with people on the other end of the spectrum can’t play ranked anymore. Literally just want a br, since sidekick is cheater heaven.
343 probably should have just made a pure solo queue for those who really care, then they can play with their already dwindling population that actually cares if their csr is 1222 instead of 1012.

Give me a non-ranked BR start Quickplay playlist and I’ll never touch Ranked again. It’s that simple. I don’t want to ruin anyone trying to go for a higher rank. I don’t even want to play ranked, but I want BR starts.
Hey buddy, I’m not salty I can’t play ranked with my low rank friends. I’m salty that 343i isn’t providing us with a social BR start playlist. My Fireteam and I grew up on Halo 2 and Halo 3, so we just want to continue to use the BR.
I would gladly give up my Onyx rank and never touch the ranked playlist again, if I was given an alternative playlist with BR starts. It’s that simple.

I feel you. They should add BR social playslist and if you want to play with your friend you can still create a smurf the update is good. Its a step in the good direction
If you end up higher than them with your smurf then it is what it is. Maybe its better to coach your friends than thinking your case is a good reason to say the fixes are wrong. if your friends dont have time to play that much then social playlist was made for y’all
On the other hand, those of us who were already enjoying the most popular matchmaking playlist (Team Slayer) prior to the start of Season 2 are now forced to utilize a BR-only start in 58% of the matches, without any advance warning and with the BR melee damage still “nerfed” in social games.
As a result, the hardcore BR-only people should be much happier than those of us who already enjoyed Team Slayer exactly how it was for the previous six months.
Derank and then u can play with ur friends… The pop is low thats why theyre doing this. It would have never happened in previous games cuz of higher pop combined with 0-50 + global ranks.
