Hey 343i, bring back Guardian...

…I’m feeling nostalgic again. Now, the Pit is coming back with the Championship DLC Bundle within 20 agonizing days, and that’s awesome (well, the 20 days part, not so much) but I can’t help but think of another classic map from Halo 3 that I loved.

Guardian

That map was just beautiful… up in the kilometer-high trees of some mysterious Forerunner planet, surrounded by fog, all dark and eerie… gameplay was pretty good, too. Might need to tweak it just a bit to work with Halo 4 (as I recall, Lockout, or Shutout, or whatever the hell, didn’t work out so well being an exact replica and all).

If they bring it back, I propose the name it Vanguard ; sounds cool, right?

I just have some really fond memories of that map… like that time I got challenged to a 1v1 by some random jerk, and kicked his -Yoink- so hard he was wearing his -Yoink- for a hat afterwards… ah, good times.

I feel as though Armor Abilities will make it far different than any nostalgic flashbacks can give you.

Not hating on AA’s, but it’s going to play extremely different.

See maps like the pit play very well with the AA. Reason how i know because i had a very good remake of it in forge. Pit plays very well with sprint and other AA. And as long as Jet pack is canceled out with trait zones and death barriers it works well but guardian would play horrible with the PV, JP, and Active camo not being a map pick up

I don’t think AAs would be much of a problem on Guardian, no more than any other map. Jetpackers make for some nice target practice. I have grenades to deal with Camo campers…

…and, those are the only two AAs in this game that ever really cause problems. I have a feeling there be a lot of n00bs jetpacking on the Man Cannons and plummeting to their deaths as a result. Tag them with your BR for free kills, heh.

I most certainly would not mind seeing this map return in Halo 4. It would also be nice if 343 could release some standalone maps like this for free. Similar to Forge Island.

You could forge it on Erosion.

> You could forge it on Erosion.

Guardian is easily Forgeable, so there’s very little reasoning for bringing it back. (The same could be said for The Pit.)

The lack of descope, the fact the map was designed for a game based around AR starts, items like Camo, and sprint would just totally ruin Guardian.
Not that Guardian was very good to begin with.

I don’t think Guardian would play well with Jet Packs and Sprint. Sorry.

I’d rather see a map from CE or 2

Waterworks or Death Island anyone?

Death island, as long as it is too tall to jet up on.

I want to see everyone using a jetpack on that map falling short and crashing to their deaths. It would only be fitting.

I preferred guardian over lockout…

I wouldn’t doubt I’m gonna get some hate, but as much as I loved guardian, I would much rather have construct remade instead

I think a Guardian remake is best saved for Halo 5 where not only the graphics will be better, but also there’ll be no DMRs, no AAs and no sprint. And so the map will have retained its full playability.

Wishful thinking, I know. :stuck_out_tongue:

A DMR (or any longe-range precision rifle) would be useless with Guardian’s low sightlines, I’d be more concerned about Boltshot users hiding around the corners of the map.
