Hey 343! The Spawns...

They’re complete -Yoink-! The objective is to spawn a player where they at least have a chance to reorient themselves safely on the map!

So why am I spawning RIGHT next to TWO enemy players sometimes? One player is bad enough, and that happens 2-3 times as often. But getting ganged up on immediately off-spawn is unacceptable!

With ALL of the open space on the map, it’s possible to spawn that close to the enemy team? That needs to change. This has been a long-running personal (and community) complaint, and there has been no acknowledgement of the issue…

The spawn system is about as good as it could be. The issue here is because of the insane mobility players have in Halo 5, it doesn’t take them very long to traverse the entire map, giving the illusion that you’re spawning a lot closer to others than you’d like.

I’m not saying bad spawns don’t exist. I’m not saying the system is perfect. But I am saying there are other factors that play into it.

Not going to lie, I have to agree with OP many times I spawn right behind a person, or so far away from teammates. That’s one of my few grips with this game. Dying is already punishment for messing up. To spawn so close to enemies is ridiculous, sprint or not.

I’m sorry but…

This happens far too often.

The spawn system is as good as it will get. Awareness will vary from player to player. Recognizing spawn points and what spawns are being blocked and prioritizing kills to prevent a spawn from being blocked are crucial especially against people that know what they’re doing.

Unless you want urban where they “fixed” the spawns as per the community complaining about spawns. If you’re on offense and are outslayed and pushed back, you’ll end up spawning behind the armory. You definitely won’t get grenade spammed, but you’ll definitely not cap as it’s a 30+ second run back to the garage, where they are now shooting you on the way back.

There are many factors to consider. Most of the time a good player will know roughly where they will respawn and where to go/shoot based on where recent teammates died, where the opponent is, where teammates are, current objective, previous teammate spawns, death screen, open choke points/power positions etc. Note I said know where to go off spawn- if you don’t choose the correct place to go, you will probably end up being the person dying and not the person putting in shots to help the team.

Play and learn my friend. Unfortunately there’s no potion to magically win every game without trying. If you want that, I’d play a PvE game or firefight. No one is playing to lose.

That’s the exact garbage I talk about. If this is the best the spawns are, then that is still horrendous I do not ever remember something like that happening in past Halo games.

Dude, I’ve been playing Halo since CE… I have “played and learned” my friend… Awareness isn’t even a factor when you don’t have but a full 2 seconds to react in many cases.

I know Warzone spawns can sometimes be bad, but I remember going 2-16 in Plat level SWAT against a full team of Champions where I lasted about 2 seconds in every life before I died repeatedly. Props to the players with the knowledge of the game to do that, but it is really not a fun experience and a waste of 8-12 minutes where I could be enjoying the game. But, it does happen, and I’m not one to whine, I just try to avoid these bad experiences.

P.S. I was pretty mad after that game and ended up breaking my toe XD

It’s capture the flag, so spawns are static (they won’t spawn on your side of the map). You had 3 teammates over at their BR and treehouse. They only had one spawn zone left. The one right next to you. Honestly, I’m surprised you decided to be there, seeing how that spawn was inevitable. Can’t side with you on that one, sorry.

As I said, bad spawns happen. I’ve seen plenty myself. But spawning systems are insanely tricky to balance. The maps don’t lend themselves well to balanced spawning, and the additional mobility doesn’t help either.

I don’t understand what your saying. It sounds like you are suggesting that he decided where to spawn. The game decides where you spawn, not the player.

Not entirely true, my friend. Manipulating enemy spawns is a cornerstone of higher-echelon play. It’s definitely a science within the game.

With all due respect, if you’ve “learned” you should understand that it’s your fault/team’s fault to be put in this predicament in the first place. This is what I mean when I say awareness. Risky plays will result in this on occasion- even pros will fall to this given the right circumstances. With risk comes a chance for greater rewards (reversals, power weapons, a cap) but there’s the downside of dying and losing map control.

If you have map control and are outslaying the other team IN addition to having communication if an enemy slipped by to your side, this non-issue is just that, a non-issue. You’ll be slipping shots in to anyone that spawns and tries to run to safety and a teammate will finish the weak guy off. On the flip side, if you’re 4 down and are playing a good team, you better expect the opponent to push to top mid and hold choke points so you are stuck in your base along with your teammates. If we’re 4 down and I spawn first with no pressure from the other team, unless they were doing objective, my team (assuming it’s a good team as well) will most likely win the game because the other team doesn’t know how to play, even though we got into a bad spawn cycle.

Coming from someone else that has played 50,000+ games since CE. 39 in multiple playlists in h2, 50 in multiple playlists in h3, top 100 overall in snipes, mlg and slayer in reach, etc.

Sorry brotha this is a non issue. If I play good people and we have 4 down and the opponent has at least 2 up, the first person that spawns is most likely dead.

I understand that. But you can’t control where you spawn unless you control where the enemy team is (which they weren’t doing). This video shows how the game spawned him immediately in front of an enemy, only to be immediately assassinated. Or are you talking about how the red player was killed by a spawning blue player?

Nevermind that maybe I was trying to get the m out of that area, or that my teammates and opponents were constantly moving from place to place, changing the active spawn zones. There is absolutely no excuse for the game to spawn me in a place that I have no chance of surviving. It may as well give me longer spawn times.

Even if they were totally pro at controlling spawns, explain this one.

Bruh, I ain’t even gonna try to defend that one lol. Warzone spawns have been known to be comically abysmal.

This video shows how the game spawned him immediately in front of an enemy, only to be immediately assassinated. Or are you talking about how the red player was killed by a spawning blue player?

I think the point is that the spawn system is not perfect for either team and is just as likely to cause a death for either team. If the blue team in the video was actually the better team, that one death probably did not change the outcome of the game. You can find great examples of bad spawns in just about any FPS game ever made. Nothing to do but get back on your horse and try to win the game anyway.

Also, The blue player that killed the assassin did not just spawn but came from inside blue base.

I agree that the system is not perfect, but I think that Halo 5 does a pretty good job of it. You usually stay pretty safe after spawn, but if the enemy team is doing their jobs they at least know where you will be. My confusion came from Viper saying that “I’m surprised you decided to be there” when Eleventh had no control over where he spawned.

Ok, I see that now. So i have no idea what Viper is talking about now. It might just be totally over my head.

Listen to the Nublet, it makes a good point anout spawning. There are many things that lead to bad spawns, including the constant mobility Spartans have!
