And make Halo Wars 2!!! Since you struggled making a fps, why not try making an RTS. All you would have to do is copy and paste Halo Wars, add a couple of units, and maybe add a forerunner and flood faction. Bam Bam Bam 4 million copies sold and everyone is happy.
Halo Wars has maintained a pretty healthy multiplayer population since its been released. So there is money to be made here 343… MONEY!! And I have no desire for Halo 5 after this Halo 4 debacle but I really would like a Halo Wars 2 and I am sure there is plenty of others out there that do as well.
Would money be made? sure
…
But Not nearly as much as if a Halo 5 was made…
Not that I’m saying this is a bad idea, but making it instead of Halo 5? I doubt the greens are going to be rolling in then…
I agree Halo 5 would sell more, but it would also take more money to make. Halo Wars 2 could be created by a relatively small development team, and still sell millions. I know they are going to make Halo 5 without a doubt, but I just wish they would give some hope to the Halo Wars fans out there and at least tease the possibility of a Halo Wars 2. They have a monopoly on the RTS console market (granted its a small market but they have really the only game that works on consoles), and Halo is probably (thanks to the stellar effort of Halo 4) now the 3rd most popular first person shooter on consoles (behind COD, and perhaps Battlefield).
Making Halo Wars 2 just seems like such an easy thing to do! Ensemble did a tremendous job, I still wish Microsoft didn’t destroy their company after they finished Halo Wars.
Just roll with the fact Spartan Assault is somewhat the predecessor to Halo Wars. It might not be an RTS but it’s probably the closest you’ll get to another Halo Wars for now.
I’ve heard mixed things about Spartan Assault… Is it any fun?
I’ve only played it twice but I did enjoy it both times. It’s kind of like a Halo for Casuals because it’s a pick-up-and-play type title. Definitely worth it’s pricetag because of achievements and the plot (If you’re into Halo lore).
I’d be pretty excited to try a sequel to Halo Wars, but I don’t think it should take priority over Halo 5 - nor do I think it could.
I’m still sitting here wanting to find out what the Spirit of Fire’s AI meant at the end of the campaign. ^^
The sales for the games say it all really. I hate using VGChartz as a source as the numbers aren’t 100% correct, but they are fairy close.
Halo 3 sold 11.78 million copies since July 2013.
Halo: Reach sold 9.44 million copies since July 2013.
Halo 2 sold 8.47 million copies since July 2013.
Halo 4 sold 8.41 million copies since July 2013.
Halo: Combat Evolved sold 6.45 million copies since July 2013.
Halo 3: ODST sold 6.16 million copies since July 2013.
Halo Wars sold 2.34 million copies sine July 2013.
Don’t really need to say anything else to be honest, the numbers sum it up.
A copy and paste of halo wars…
Yeah no. As much as I like halo wars it gets really annoying having only a few units and strategies be useful. I was sorely disappointed by the sad little wraith tank. Sure it is ok early to the earlier mid game, but it is completely outclassed by everything later on. That is just one example. Some of us actually get tired of warthogs, leader rushes, banshee rushes, and record time PT tanks
Whatever happens DON’T LET 343 GET THEIR HANDS ON THIS GAME! They will ruin it just like they ruined the FPS franchise. They will also offer up DLC content on day one of Halo Wars 2’s release in order to rip you off even further. Keep away 343!
