I watched the demo like 50 times already and now i paused a lot to look at scenery in the distance,i must say there are way too many hex walls imo.I don’t understand why they are so many on the good looking rocks.
What’s your opinion on this?
The closer you are to the broken sections, the more you’ll see the hex walls. In the gameplay demo, the chief and pilot are stuck on a little “island” of a broken section. So, yeah, there’s going to be a lot of the hex walls around. Some of the screenshots from the last update looked to be farther away from the broken section; you could really only see them in the distance.

I feel like the demo had a tad to much, but alot of the images they’ve posted in the last few months have made the pillars grow on me, I think they’re unique, thats for sure lmao.

If it were up to me i would reduce the number of hex walls in that demo area by half,minimum.
Personally not a huge fan of the hex walls, but as long as they’re not all over the place (and it doesn’t seem they will be) then I don’t mind
I like the concept of the hex walls, they just need to be tweaked visually from the demo
I don’t mind the hexagonal pillar walls but they do need to have more texture on them.
I never understood the purpose of them, they’re quite ugly and plain looking. Looks like they received the least amount of thought in the Campaign lol.
My guess is they are there and abundant for filler, just to cover up certain areas. Or simply to support tall vertical cliffs, either way, it’s definitely easier than making the entire Cliff natural looking with texture and foliage. Meh, Whatever, but I believe they did say there are less of those pillars in the recent article
343 has said that they also do not like the look of the hex walls currently and are working to improve their visual fidelity. I do hope that other areas of the game will have less of them and as others have said it does seem like there are less of them in the screenshots they have shown since then. Its probably just the area of the game that the demo takes place in.

I imagine it’s a difficult artistic balance to get right.
The hexapillars are supposed to show off areas where the ring has been damaged (and under repair) - so to some extent they need to be clean and shiny. Some areas will have no pillars… others a lot.
But too much is jarring - so they do need to add some weathering (damage and/or discolouration) to break it up a bit.
