Halsey: “I tried to warn you this was happening.”
Lasky: “He’s gone in search of her.”
Halsey: “You let him go?”
Roland: “How is it that–”
Palmer: “Nobody lets the Chief do anything. He does what he wants.”
Lasky: “Until zero-thirty-six this morning where he was declared absent without leave.”
Roland: “This isn’t about the Master Chief…”
Halsey: “John is not equipped emotionally to deal with her as a threat.”
Roland: “HEY! Is anyone going to listen to me?”
Lasky: “You’re out of line, Roland.”
Roland: “Yes sir, but so is everyone else!
Any thoughts or theories as to what halsey means by deal with her as a threat and who shes reffering to? Considering Locke said take HIM down when they encountered the warden im certain it isnt him. Cortana? surely its all that it could be.
The guardian WAS blue. It seems shes controlling them as some have theorized, even though I think it’s -Yoinking!- stupid
The Domain. Warden Eternal referred to it as a female (“I am the Warden Eternal, Keeper of the Domain and her secrets.”) And we know that, it would seem at least, that the Domain is communicating to Chief as Cortana, probably so he’ll trust her better. The Domain, for the record, is a conscious entity, a Precursor entity.
Cortana herself is dead, confirmed directly by Frankie himself.
I think we’re talking about Cortana.
The only other “her” that would bring his emotions into play would be Halsey, and since she’s the one saying that, that really only leaves Cortana. Do you remember that scene in Halo 4 where Cortana couldn’t prevent the Didact’s ship from leaving and she said “now to imprison them?” and something about how like Halsey imprisoned her? Maybe she survived and is chillin’ with the Didact, I don’t know.

Frankie confirmed that she’s definitely dead.

Why would Chief not be emotionally equipped to deal with the Domain?

Pleeeease be the first game with precursors, and please give them a trippy design and presentation that doesn’t teveal a definite shape.

I know thats what im thinking, like unless halsey knows somthing about “her as a threat” then perhaps its got somthing to do with the escalation comics that were yet to see at the absolute record.
This might tie into the theory that something’s using cortana’s image to manipulate John.

I already explained. It’s because Domain is communicating to the Chief as if she was Cortana. We already know this from the GameInformer article where she warns him about Meridian (the lava planet that we see a Guardian awaken in during the trailer). This was the same article Frankie confirmed for sure that Cortana is dead. If Domain is posing as Cortana, this may compromise Chief, making him believe she’s real, or at the very least screw with his head (as Precursors tend to do).

They’re basically gods that could take any form they chose; the Domain is likely an extra dimensional entity/sentient repository of knowledge, so we probably won’t ever see “her” physical form if she even has one.

You know, I never thought of this as a Precursor plot before, but it makes sense. The Domain is a precursor thing that the foreurnners usurped but never really understood, thus they could easily be using it to manipulate its Warden and others.

If the Domain is using her image to -Yoink- with him, I can only imagine what other sadistic -Yoink- it has in store for him.

Oh I see what you mean.
I was going to be a little annoyed if she was back properly. Especially after being confirmed dead. I was already annoyed about her “ghost” talking to Chief, but if that’s the Domain, then there we go.
In ODST, the Desitny easter egg was replaced with a sign that says “For Her” and shows Earth and Misraiah, which is a weapons manufacturer on Mars, and people just assumed “Her” is Earth (as Earth is referred to as Mother Earth) and Misraiah makes weapons that defend her. But some people thought it has to be a Halo 5 easter egg. And now, we have dialogue saying Chief has left “in search of her.” Maybe the ODST sign is in fact saying Misraiah makes weapons to protect Mother Earth and that is the meaning of “For Her,” but maybe it’s also a Halo 5 hint hidden behind what seems to be a normal sign in the game like any other sign you see

I know what precursors are, but seeing some nightmare shape would make for a cool as scene or boss, though if it was a boss you would have to lose considering they could probably kill him immediately if there was ever direct contact.

Where was the above stated? Was it in a video or something I’ve missed?

Which unfortunately some won’t be able to see until it’s YouTube’d. I got to watch it on my XboxOne, but if you don’t have one you’d need a Windows tablet/phone that can run Halo Channel. And if you don’t have either… Well, you have to wait

Well it seems to be increasingly likely that he means Gandalf dead rather than Borormir dead.
