Played a couple matches and I’m starting to see a pattern Specifically in 2 vs. 2 & 3 vs. 3 deathmatch.
People are spamming the Jerome Hero with his Hero mantis. The first thing they build is an Armory and pop out a Jerome, after that they upgrade him to get his mantis and then they control the entire map with their Jeromes and a couple marines. This isn’t too bad in 1 vs. 1 but when you have 2 or 3 Jerome Mantises running the map killing everything you have (because not everyone plays as Jerome and not all leaders are equal) it becomes really hard to combat this.
Also if you do kill Jerome’s Mantis, Jerome himself has his shield all the way back up and whatever health he was left with. It’s essentially like trying to kill 2 leaders but multiply that by 3 and you’ve essentially had to kill 6 leaders just to take control of the map again, highly unfair for those NOT playing as Jerome. This completely voids out the other leaders, if this was the case Kinsano should come out of her cyclops, Forge should come out of his warthog and the Exo-Decimus should have a regular Decimus come out of his exo-suit when destroyed. Please take a good look into this 343!
Try Infantry and Air, or even Warthogs, fast units to kill him (Jerome) and Heavy hitters for the Mantis, in early I recomend using Leader vs Leader or Marine swarm (But watch out for the Mantis landing).
It would be nice that Jerome came out without shields but he doesnt have a good amount of life to survive without his mantis If you rush early with Hellbringers and your enemy doesnt have the upgrade he is practicly dead.

Thats a cool idea but those leaders (Except maybe Forge) are Tanky and have a gigantic amount of healt.

The Mantis dies so easily, why would anyone put Jerome in the Mantis when you get less health and they’ll both die?
I personally think it works great the way it is. It’s just that leaders have been made more powerful this patch and may require new play styles (things were changed up pretty well this patch).

the marines inside jeromes victory field are incredible. you can kill an entire army of grunts with 39 supply worth of marines undee the victory buffs.
jerome is probably the most broken leader that has ever ever bern in this game so far. meh anders aentinels were pretty broken.but this mantis rush crap is actually unstopable
That’s a rough spam. But, if you kill their heros, you can probably take the game almost immediately after.
I’d push your own heros out super early too. I think that’s just the play now. Get them out and get the first upgrade. It may come down to micro-battling, but with chosen, hunter captain, or whoever, you’ll probably be good.
I haven’t faced a 3 J-RO hero rush yet, but that’s what I’d say.
Or! If all three are rushing. Try to turtle at the base they’re all attacking, and have one of your teammates pump anti-building units against their bases. A couple of jump brutes smacking their main may cause them to have to pull back.
Keep in mind too I’m sure we’ll all find a way to counter this stuff eventually, it’s a new balance update making heroes incredibly useful which is great! My only concern is that Jerome is the only Hero that get’s a double survival chance. Since killing the Mantis is easier than killing Jerome himself, and you don’t want to loose Jerome when the weaker Mantis explodes how about considering the following:
Option 1) Upon calling the Mantis, when Jerome gets inside of his Mantis the Mantis get’s more defense and health matching Jerome’s health and defense. That way people can’t complain about the Mantis being weaker and it being useless when it explodes and you loose Jerome with it.
Option 2) If Jerome dying with his Mantis is just too hard to grasp, then how about when Jerome’s Mantis explodes and he’s IN it at the very least take off all his shield temporarily. I mean come on, he really should die, this isn’t crying over spilled milk. In all the previous Halos when you play as Master Chief and your vehicle explodes while you’re in it, you DIE. This should be no different, however if people will complain about it, at least temporary stun or debuff Jerome just for a short time so that he can’t run away with full armor and health just to call another mantis to repeat the cycle all over again.
I’ve been seeing the Jerome rush happening more often now. I build a small group of infantry/ building killers and sneak them around the map to snipe a generator or a couple of upgraded pads. Build some turrets at home too so that your base isn’t vulnerable. If you snipe his generator then you have pretty much set him back so far you could out tech him and gain such a huge advantage.
Have you seen his rush? Talk about OP. He is way too powerful early game and together with the three extra heroes you get late game, is nothing short of complete dominance.
I have no doubts he will be nerfed slightly. And he should be.

He seems fine, to the Arbiter Rush… people not looking into the one kill kid from the covenant. People so worry about the Spartian that they overlooking the king… the chosen one.

Except Kisano’s Cyclops, she is 100% trash, she is “Green” (Good) against Infantry and her ability at max upgrade cant kill 2 Infantry units.
Believe me she needs serious buffs.
Not to mention that Cyclops are supose to be good against Vehicles and she is Yellow against them.
