Here's why I approve of and even encourage MTX being added to MCC

It doesn’t matter that it doesn’t take much skill to unlock the stuff. Halo was always about unlocking cosmetics via game play not just buying them. If I recall correctly they said MCC wouldn’t have MTX so there for it shouldn’t have them based solely on that. If they want to help newer players unlock more stuff faster just make the tactical exercises reward more points, or make all the weekly challenges award points. Besides going back on their word about MTX my issue about them putting MTX in the game is if they do put more cosmetics in the game odds are they will strictly be for money only and not unlocked via points. If they want MCC to generate some money why not make some legit game content that players would want to buy? I know I would shell out real money for some more remaster H2 maps for H2A, especially if it’s Waterworks, Terminal, Colossus, Terf, and elongation.

Microtransaction do NOTHING but HURT the game they are implemented in. It always results in the same pitiful display: Lack of polish, lack of content, lack of care for the community, and emphasis on bloating the microtransaction pool instead of focusing on fixing game breaking bugs. For an example of this, just look at Halo Infinite and my point will be made clear rather quickly.

KEEP MTX OUT OF MCC, THEY DON’T BELONG IN AAA GAMES AT ALL, LET ALONE A COLLECITON OF GAMES UP TO A DECADE OLD!

This! Because of this statement there is NO justification for MTX in MCC. KEEP THEM OUT!

Same. I’d pay for map packs, Hell, I’d even pay for unique stuff like PC ported modded maps to Xbox as new DLC maps for each game.

I feel like you guys aren’t even considering the points I’m making. Not too surprising though, since 343i has actively cultivated distrust and frustration with their many bad decisions. Bonnie Ross demonizing the hardcore fans. The dismal and predatory state of Infinite. The list goes on. I. Understand. The. Entire. Situation.

But for the reasons I’ve already stated I’m looking at this particular thing the way that I am, at least for now. If they fix all the bugs, return everything that’s missing(splitscreen, taking screenshots, party up, the credits etc etc) and create a content pipleline partnership with the community to officially implement cherry picked high quality mods i.e. fixes and additions into MCC so that it can continue on to its full potential - on top of what they’ve already done and are still doing - then I super duper don’t care about MTX, however aggressive they may be tbh, for cosmetic content that was never there, was never going to be there, was never even dreamed of let alone expected. I will happily forgive them.

P.S. A while back I started the first thread regarding “DO NOT implement monetization of any kind for Infinite’s Forge”. I’m not a 343i sycophant who needs to be told things like “Bungie started Halo not 343i” lol and while I understand that sentiment, I think the PUB Team is good people doing good things and are proving themselves. If they follow through and complete all the remaining work, credit where credit’s due, they will have saved some face for 343i, strengthened the IP and they will have taken ownership of these games, which we all love so much.

You are saying in this comment that IF they do all of these things, you’re okay with MTX.
I could be on board with that.
The problem is that they are seemingly ignoring those issues to put MTX in NOW.

If they add a bunch of cosmetics for $$$ and we are stuck waiting another 5 years for the Party Up mechanic to be added, or post game lobbies, or other seriously needed features - I would consider that a failure.

If the game were fully finished, nicely polished, and had a healthy thriving community nobody would care about MTX. Its the fact that we are in the position we are and now its randomly brought up in a vague blog post and not followed up on for weeks.

Of course! I thought that was clear. Yes, my not caring about the MTX hinges on them also doing what needs doing. Why do you say they seemingly aren’t when they’ve already confirmed big patches incoming?

5 years to get the remaining things done is too long, yeah, better late than never though. Ideally absolutely everything is done within 1 - 2 years. I care about the franchise to the point that I still want them fixed even if I’m dead lol.

I agree they shouldn’t have just randomly vaguely brought it up then not talked about it.

No, we aren’t. Because MTX don’t belong in games period, let alone games like Halo.

It’s -Yoink!-, not caritas where you do the charity. If they want can do that in 1 year.
To add new content in mcc is the only way to redemption for what they did, AND THEY STOLE PEOPLE MONEY selling a broken game for years

I can’t write Microsoft with $ lol

Nope. I would have GLADLY paid for Flood Firefight. I’ll gladly pay for Flood Firefight again if they added it to Reach. I still think they should make an ODST multiplayer. I’d pay for that too. A new map pack with new assets? Of course I’d pay for that.

But MTX? No. If they want to BUNDLE cosmetics with actual gameplay, sure. More power to them. But the acceptance of having to pay for what are JUST cosmetics harms the game industry as a whole since it lowers the bar even further. What if you bought the game AND you had to pay $5 to change your armor color? What if each color was $2? It’s not a slippery slope fallacy when we’ve already been pushed down the slope.

Oh absolutely! Anything that adds quality content and is NOT microtransactions, I will buy out of support for the people working on said content as it is a ONE TIME PURCHASE.

MCC came out, almost 8 years ago. With many problems, yes. But over the years, they have added many features, updates, and QoL updates, beyond what anyone would have expected back in, 2014.

PC gamers are still behind, sorry, for this, but on an Xbox Series system, this is gaming Nirvana.

After all these years, anyone who would buy MCC, probably already has, or anyone new, is because of the free download on Gamepass. This game, will not make a single penny, from this point on. But, we all want continued support for many years? Correct?

-New Playlists (Multi-team???)
-New Rotational Playlists
-Fix Co-Op (constantly crashing)
-Co-Op isnt fully cross platform yet
-Enable MCC Multiplayer on SteamDeck (a single file change)
-Fix random crashes (Fatal Error, constant disconnects)
-Rework the ban system
-Auto-detect / kick players AFKing constantly
-New H2A maps

I bought this game at launch. I felt betrayed, at first, but have become to enjoy what it has become. I want this to continue, but this is a business, Microsoft will only support, if it is a viable business. It is the way of life.

So what about all that MTX money 343 is making from Infinite does that not count? Because MCC sure as hell doesn’t need MTX for continued support, it never did.
