HEre's my 2 cents on your "ruined" 4.

Halo and Skill. What a combo. Really. Does Halo take much skill, I mean like Chess Tier skill, or Football (in real life, NFL style) skill. Does it take chess skill, Poker Skill, Apples to Apples skill.

I mean lets look at it this way.

Players spawn with the same weapon

Well since Halo 2’s SMG days and Halo 3’s AR days. This is about as skilled as giving somone a rock and telling them to fight people with sling shots.

Load Outs won’t allow players to spawn with ROCKETS. Any weapon an enemy can spawn with, you can. That’s still balanced. More balanced then forcing players with a -Yoink- gun to hopefully find a better gun before they get tatted with bullets And still better then giving players a BR or DMR and making them feel that other weapons are a waste

Elites are Gone D:

Well we don’t know if this is 100% true. May just be for ranked games. However you only have your “OMFG WE ALL NEED TO BE EQUAL LOL ELITES ARE NOT EQUAL” folks to blame. If you didn’t complain they were too Extreme Dinosours maybe Elites would have been in Reach more too… Yet Reach did give Elites some power so it’s k.

Random Weapons Spawns

Probably not what you, or I think. Some of you think it means rockets are going to just spawn next to random people at random times like “HERE YOU GO LOL”.

When in reality it probably means power weapons have a few set spawn areas, with timers, for each map. Which could in theory be learned, mastered, and therefor making it pretty skillful in the end

Aim Skill

This is funny. A game with some of the highest aim assistance only takes a minimal amount of aim on an average gun. The only time it really gets hard is A-Try to hit a Team Mate B-Long Distances or C-You are so wasted, drunk and stoned you can’t think.

Try hitting your team mates in a custom game. Now that would require aim skill.

Halo is turning into COD

So. Call of Duty copied from Halo. Halo copied from Gears. Gears copied from Halo. Halo, Half Life, Gears, COD, BattleField, Battle Front, PONG…ALL COPIED FROM ONE ANOTHER OR WERE INSPIRED.

Saying Halo 4 is turning into Cod is just silly because you haven’t played it. And just makes Call of Duty look like it’s the only game in the world.

You may as well just buy all COD games now. Since no other militarty shooter in the world has Loadouts, Perks/Perk like systems or military style gameplay (before COD).

Halo 4 is turning into Halo 4. Play it. Don’t doo doo it.

SO WHAT?

Wait for the game. And learn the truth. If you want a skillful, balanced, tactical game. Play checkers. Or Chess, or even Poker.

Plus most of you wouldn’t know how to balance a game if you were a scale…

OR, 343 could just give us a proper Halo game, which was skillful, balanced and tactical.

Why can’t everyone think like you? These forums would be much more pleasant.

Loled at the PONG part, great thread +10

I hate comparing halo to COD they literally both take skill just different skill sets. I consider myself good at halo not MLG but very good and when I play COD with friends I get destroyed. some of yall look at COD like you can start up multiplayer and just destroy everybody when no matter what the players with the better tactics, map awareness, reflexes, kill streak set up, and weapon modifications are always more successful still takes skill just a different kind of skill set.

ps. good points OP

This thread shows that not everyone is a whining child. Unlike the majority of people, I am looking forward to some of these changes.

If 343 made Halo exactly like it was they would be copying Bungie.

Good points, now if only the rest of the community could stop crying about it.

Yeah halo and CoD shouldn’t be compared. Halo 4 is going to be different, like it has Spartan points instead of CoD points and Spartan ops instead of Spec Ops. Wait…

Very good points.

> If 343 made Halo exactly like it was they would be copying Bungie.

That’s one way to put it… or you could argue that sticking to the Halo core style shows that they are honoring the history of Halo and not allowing their egos to get in the way.

Change is good if its positive change, but nothing I’ve heard so far sounds positive at all.

Erm, the Covenant are returning in Halo 4 ( yes, yes I know elites are not part of the covenant by Halo 3, but for those of you who read Glasslands, they do appear, and do seem to become enemy-ish towards humans.) I think that they will return.

If its not like Halo 2 it will suck, just like H3, Odst, HR.

Honestly, those were some very good points. I’m glad some people here actually have open minds and think these changes might be for the better.

> If its not like Halo 2 it will suck, just like H3, Odst, HR.

Halo2sucks.com that is all.

Halo 2 was the most hated Halo game, it had a friggen website about how much it was hated. I loved it to death. But a lot of “pro’s” felt it was Soccer Mom BS

But hey people like to follow whatever they hear. Sometimes without ever thinking. They see “Oh Halo is turning into COD…ANd COD is all evil bad satan…So 343/Halo 4 must be bad” (quotes, for a reason).

Here’s some more things you should check out

Skill Gap and Randomness

First off I don’t think randomness exists. It’s really just things we don’t fully understand yet. There’s nothing in Halo that is so random we couldn’t understand it. Even BR Spread Bloom can be mapped out.

Yet as I said, Halo is not perfectly balanced. It only is when everyone is using one weapon. Yet Halo could be as balanced if every player had a Plasma Rifle and Spiker. Same weapons would be balanced and skillful, sadly, that would SUCK and should never happen. Therefor Halo can never truly be balanced. But no game is.

AA’s

Going to randomness. AA’s aren’t very random at all. It’s a pretty set pattern in which any player can learn and adapt to. Which to me, sounds like skill.

Each game allows 5 diffrent AA’s to be used. One at a time remember. Which means if you go into a fight there is a 1/1 chance of them using 1 of 5 AA’s.

Now all you need to do is learn how to counter all five of these. Example, Sprinters can run but they can’t attack, Take it slow on them. Jetpacks mean huge open targets, ETC ETC.

So really learning to fight off AA"s, and even USE them correctly in theory, take more skill then you could think. It’s not unfair to those who know how to cope with them.

Skill

As I said Halo is only semi-skillful. Yet on it’s on scale it takes a good amount to have some GAP. Yet AA’s, Equipment and such should do no harm to PRO’S. It should however give you the idea of getting better so you create the skill gap. It still exists. Good players will still win.

However if you think you are good based on Halo 2, or Halo 3 and you do terrible because YOU kept shooting the armor lock a-hole or fell for the hologram trick then don’t say Halo Reach is not skillful or a bad game.

If skill is the adaption and slow progression of experience then all Halo’s would take them. Halo Reach takes it’s own skill. Has just as much skill gap as Halo:CE, Halo 2, or Halo 3. It’s just stupid people who do stupid things against simply defeatable un-random odds.

Calling a 1/5 (5 easily counterable things) random is stupid. if there was a 1/pi chance of something coming towards you them yes, that would be bad (and random).

Deal with it kiddies.

Totally agree

Also halo should be more about fun competitiveness, not strict competitiveness.

There’s a new sandbox of weapons and vehicles coming in. Human. Covenant, and the new one. Hope they make em good

It’s most likely to be great. The random weapons timer thing won’t work as badly as everyone is expecting it to, it’ll probs show where the weapons coming and give a timer, so teams have to fight their way to that point for the weapon, and hold it til it spawns. this sounds good to me.

It’s truly all about keeping up with innovations that fans of other games enjoy, and pulling them across to halo.

Halo would die without innovation, and that’s not to say that if it’s different then it’s not halo. Halo has to evole to survive.

> If 343 made Halo exactly like it was they would be copying Bungie.

Halo was created by Bungie, and they are pretty much taking control of the wheel and wouldn’t be in any way copying Bungie especially because Bungie in a sense pretty much gave them Halo in a way. Wouldn’t them just making Halo 4 be copying Bungie within itself?
