Here is what happened to Halo...

Microsoft: Crikey! CoD is making tons of money! If only we had it as an exclusive… WAIT! Lets make Halo just like it, then the people that love Halo and the people the love CoD will love it!

343i: We are HALO fans. We would like to stay true to the franchise roots.

Microsoft: Does it look like we care? Add in this: Instant spawn, Shotgun on Spawn, Killcams, Ordinance Aka “Care Package”, Flinch, and DONT FORGET THE RIOT SHIELD!!! OH-EM-GEE and for the super hero fans: make it so you can see through walls!

Result: The largest population decrease (in percentage wise) in Halo history a month after release.

Bungie created Halo(H1), Bungie Killed Halo (Reach), 343i had the chance to revive the franchise but Microsoft stomped its dead body into the saturated modern FPS ground instead of keeping it unique.

343i tried. And it is obvious with the story. I loved it, and despite the boring boss “fight” the ending was spectacular and emotional. But mulitplayer is just another FPS now

Lol

-Yoink!- seems to have created the majority of problems 343 is facing. They do ruin everything they touch don’t they?

Implying Microsoft couldn’t have just funded an exclusive modern military shooter duplicating a lot of Call of Duty’s features and made a brand new IP to attempt to rival CoD pound-for-pound?
Halo 4 isn’t the first game that borrowed and adapted elements that have been included in CoD. In fact, CoD has done it too. Every single game in the industry does it. Halo: C.E. did it. Halo 4 did it. Halo 5 will do it. Hell! Bungie’s first game was a Pong! clone called Gnop!

They try too hard, too late instead of just creating something that sets them apart.

Like rushing Surface RT out the door before christmas, and then selling the obviously better Surface Pro sometime this month which is a huge flop.

Yes, but name a game that copied THAT much from CoD. I dare you

Riot Shield
Instant Spawn
Kill Cam exactly like CoD
Shotgun on Spawn in a game that NEVER had it before.
Flinch in a game that NEVER had it before.
Ordinance aka Care Package in a game that NEVER had it before.
Progression system rather than skill based ranks (this started in Reach, not H4)

Microsoft tried to take Halo, and turn in into CoD. Its obvious and only a die hard fanboy (which i was until Reach) can deny it.

Well the problem is they did it all wrong. They had a franchise as popular as cod but they messed it all up.

Cod is basically the same every year with new maps, so you know what you are getting.

Halo, instead of being true to its roots, tries to implement new gameplay every year, instead of sticking to what made it popular. It is counter-intuitive and obviously is not working.

derp, derp, derp

people dont realize that those elements did not originate in COD.

Microsoft bought Halo because they saw $$$ signs in it and tried to make it more like every other FPS because they look at CoD. 343 has tried their hardest to keep it all the same and they have done a pretty good job at it, but they were also rushed for the holiday and are probably rushed again by -Yoink!- to make a TU because people have stopped playing. Of course, they didn’t think ahead to the point that the community hates every new Halo until a TU is released. After they figured that out, they want it rushed again and so they can start making more $$$. Which is where their next flaw comes in, you can’t rush a TU.

343 has done a great job on Halo 4. Campaign is great. Spops needs the fixes you would expect and we will be getting new locations in the second half. MP is great but there is so much wrong and so much where it can be improved. I just wish that 343 would take their time.

riot shield - cs
instant spawn - cs
kill cam - cs:source
shotgun on spawn - cs
flinch - cs

I could go on and on about how COD took features from other games, but I hope you have gotten the point already.
