I have been getting my butt kicked for a little while now with this game. I am having a lot of fun still. I feel like I was missing something but was not sure. This morning I did Spartan Ops and I played with some great guys. 2 where very help full. Advised me my current weapons the Carbine and storm riffle is putting me at a disadvantage.
Right now I have not gone on a buying spree yet so I have a a bit of points to buy items around a dozen I think. I have been looking and searching but I can not find a good place for info on what weapons setup to work on for a types of play. I know setup can very on maps and play type.
I like playing Ops a lot and when doing War Games I do like the closer maps like for playing oddball. I am just not a good sniper at all. Would like to improve this. To be honest I am getting tired of getting my butt kicked by kids 1/2 or even worse a 1/3rd of my age. LOL
I like Using “Firepower” as a support upgrade and having BR as my start and the DMR as my secondary. i use stability as my tactical package, and aslo thruster pack as my AA
It depends everything on your playstile, but remember that Carabine and Storm Rifle are just the hardest weapons to get kills with.
For Spartan OPS best I could play with is DMR as primary, BR/Carabine as secondary, Frag Granades (also Plasma nades are good, but usually you find tons of them when fighting covenants) the AutoSentry as ability (there other good choices, but it really helps a lot when you need to distract enemies) Firepower and Extra Ammunitions (it’s a need when playing Spartan Ops, with this one you can double the ammunitions ine very weapon that can be much useful in some situations)
For War Games as you prefer objective games I would suggest BR or AR with a Boltshot (if you are in the mood of charge shotting with it) or Plasma Pistol to disable vehicles/remove shields. For ability I’m not really sure, I would say something like Active Camo or Promethean Vision, that are the ones helping most against other players…
Assuming you haven’t unlocked your 5th slot yet, I’d order your loadouts between ranges.
If your on a short range map like Haven have a setup for this, eg Battle Rifle/ Boltshot, Jetpack and Dexterity and Mobility maybe.
Ditto for medium and large range maps.
That’s how I order my loadouts, the key is to have each load out representative of what you would work best for certain maps and combinations.
Pick either the way you play or how you want to play, and select weapons and Armour mods which reflect this.
For example you said you wanted to be a better sniper, the best way is to practice, and at long range preferably without being shot at.
I’d create a class for Ragnarok/Exile which gets picked quite a bit in the BTB play list.
Pick DMR/PP for your weapons as you’ll need the 3x zoom of the DMR and PP for vehicles.
I’d advise you go with Camo paired with AA efficiency. You want to be able to practice sniping without being noticed as much as possible.
Mobility is always good on any map but you might want to pick Ordinance priority if you can so you can get more chances at a sniper in your ordinance.
Thank you everyone for the quick replies! Right now I am about to hit a ranking of 32. Will have to play with this now. At least you have helped me with a great starting point and options to work in as I go.
Just wanted to say thanks again. I have been getting better now with this better weapons. Right now I have mostly been doing Ops to work on my skills. It is getting me their.
For ops though I am having a hard time with the watchers. Got a feeling once I have the watchers out of the picture it will make the other enemies easier.
I specialized the other night with Rouge and unlocked the covenant carbine REIGN skin. Since I don’t usually use it, I decided to test its worth and it was extremely useful. It has such a high rate of fire and decent damage. Not to mention the large magazine. I’m not great at Halo, but this gun has worked wonders. I plan to be using it for a long while.
As for the Watchers, they’re the worst. I always kill them first. If you try to kill the Knights or Crawlers they just shield them. Or generate more.
