Help with Legendary Promethean Knights....

How do you kill Promethean Knights on Legendary?

i have been stuck on the first part of the Forerunner level for the better part of 3hrs now trying to kill that first Promethean knight that shows up…

I just cant do it… I dont even have this much trouble with Hunters…

All I have available is the suppressor and the boltshot… nothing else. The closes i have come to killing it required 3 full boltshot clips and 2 and a half suppressor clips and it still manages to lunge at me and kill me instantly with a punch…

I am really close to snapping this disc in half…

Killing them isn’t so hard… You can drop their shields in one shot with a charged Boltshot to the face, and then kill them in one shot with a well-placed magnum round to the face.

My problem is running out of ammo fighting off cralwers, and not having any weapons to tackle the Watchers and Knights.

Shoot him in the head. It’s really not that hard…
If you are having trouble with one knight there is no way you can do the rest of the campaign. Get a friend to help or go to a lower difficulty.

You can try running around the left.

suppressor works actually fine against them. just find some cover to reload (it’ll take 2 clips. don’t try to melee them, you’ll lose at that little game).

if you can, find a plasma pistol and precision weapon. noob combo works against them

Use needler. Supressor works fine if up close. Any power weapon. Precision weapons work if headshots. Dont use boltshot on knights.

Order of engagement:

  1. approaching crawlers
  2. watchers
  3. Idle crawlers
  4. knights.

Plan your attack and know where the ammo is.

What? Kill Promethian knights… The objective is to reach the waypoint. YOU HAVE TO WARN INFINITY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! WHY ARE YOU MUCKING AROUND WITH KNIGHTS!?
Honestly… I just ran past most of the first ones. Then when the covenant came along, I just nabbed a plasma pistol. Knights became a lot easier after that.

Oh, and the scattershot has a surprising amount of range on it.

Supresser mows down health like no other, so once you drop his shields he should be no problem. How did you manage to get stuck with the boltshot though? I have a hard time believing their isn’t anything else for you to use.
No grenades? Whats your AA?

Thanks for the tips…

I need to stay on legendary for the achievemt for the week, and I ONLY have the Supressor and Bolt shot, but I will scan the area to see what is lying around…

I guess ill either get it or end up cutting my hands the shattered remains of my H4 disc…

empty a suppressor clip on him

in the middle of the second clip throw a grenade at it, then fire again

if u time it correctly he will be stunned from the shield drop and unable to dodge the nade

Not sure what to say, a PP or BS to drop their shields and then shred them with any other weapon.
Never take on more than 1 at a time.
Take them on from as far away as possible, when possible.
Take out Watchers first.
Take out the Crawlers second and only when you don’t have a knight that is producing Crawlers. In that case you’re wasting time but possibly gathering ammo by killing the easily dead by 1-headshot Crawlers.
Assassinations work great on engaged Promes but they have an insta-kill melee so it is risky.
Wait till mission 6… Them Knights are even more deadly due to the geometry of the battles.

They are not that hard, you just suck at killing them.

But i’ll help you out so you don’t suck as much.

First: KILL THE WATCHERS FIRST AT ALL COSTS! You’ll thank me later. Kill any Crawlers that get in the way. You’ll need the Supressors the Alpha Crawlers drop. Don’t bother with the Bolshot. Use Supressor (or any automatic) with a Headshot weapon. Needler/Plasma Pistol works.

Cover is your best friend. Use to your advantage to not only recover your shields but to flank Knights with a close range weapon. Apply this and the above together and you’ll kill Knights like a pro.

For Lancers: They have Binary Rifles, so use Cover (you can tell they are using them when you see a red ring around their heads before they fire). What i like to do to kill is using the Needler. This will kill them the fastest due to lock on though they tend to teleport often. Speaking of teleporting, they have a frontal warp attack they do when you drop their shields. It’s a very powerful attack but easy to dodge. They announce it before they do it (pay attention to them because they are the only Knight class that does this) and jump to the side and you should be able to get out of the way in time.

For Commanders: Watch out for the Incinerator Cannon. It’s an instant kill but if you do get close, any of the tactics listed above will work. Just take out any Watchers and Auto Sentries it deploys.

The Battlewagon is the hardest IMO: It does everything except the Lancer teleport. You can get close but not too close because of the Scatter Shot. They also have jump attacks, which are instant kills but you can hear this coming (it makes a screaming noise).

As a note: The Supressor can kill the Knights but just use it as a shield dropper and switch to the Carbine/DMR/LR/BR/Magnum for a quick kill. If you find Binary Rifles and Incinerator Cannons, use them too.

If you throw it right at them like a sticky grenade, the Pulse Grenade will stun the Knight and do some damage. I use this tactic all the time and while it doesn’t kill them, it does enough damage to shields to make the kill so much easier.

The very first one I picked up a boltshot. Overcharge it and shoot him up close and then he is easy enough. For the rest, plasma pistol plus and precision weapon is your best friend. Oh, and auto sentry always. It helps take some of the pressure off by distracting enemies and lowering the amount of shots you need to take at them.

agreed on the auto sentry, that little guy made my solo legendary run feel like co-op

I think you’ll benefit from trying a speedrun (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ghsh5nixWY)

Sometimes the easiest way to deal with your enemies is to not deal with them at all

Most of the fights on Forerunner can easily be skipped simply by running for your life.

If there are no rockets or cannons, I would use the light rifle. For me, it was the most useful of the Forerunner weapons for taking the knights out.

But before you take down the knights, go for the watchers and crawlers first. Those guys can really be killed easily by anything.

I have two Promethean grenades and the Shield AA…

I just got acess to a light rifle, but it is making zero difference… i break the shield, put 6 shots to the head and he still kills me…

this, i’ve already beaten the game legendary co-op, so i just speedrun for the challenges.

As someone who’s already beaten the game twice on Legendary both times with tough luck, catch, and thunderstorm, I’d recommend keeping a light rifle handy at all times. They are pretty easy to come by on that level. They make killing knights a breeze as you can keep your distance to prevent from being surrounded by a million crawlers and meleed by the knight himself (90% of the time they are too stupid to do that zig zag fly-at-you move even on legendary). Just hang back and make sure to land your shots. And as someone above me said, prioritize watchers whenever you see them as they can provide knights with cover and respawn them. Do all of that and you’ll find killing knights is a breeze, much easier than the covenant of some past Halo titles.

Don’t bother too much with looking around, the best option is to simply avoid them, but I found that if time correctly you can sneak up behind them and assassinate them (saves a crap ton of trouble wasting ammo)
