Help with game code issue

I bought the xbox one master chief bundle for a family member for christmas. We played some other games before installing master chief, so i had my account logged in on their xbox. I had forgotten I was logged in with my account while helping them redeem their code and mistakenly redeemed it toward my account.

Is there any way I can either deactivate the code on my account and get a new one to apply to their account or just switch the code from my account to theirs?

You get one digital return per account if you contact customer service. You could return it on one and then buy it again on the other. I don’t know of another way.

Thanks for the reply and I appreciate your idea. That solution would work fine for me. I have two problems with it though.

  • It was not a digital purchase, but came with the Xbox one bundle- I have no idea how to contact 343 customer support. It is the worst set up I’ve ever seen, or at least have had to deal with, as far as customer support goes. Xbox live support reps send me here, a public forum. This is terrible for account related issues that would not be widespread. It is completely possible that I have just not found the right link for proper customer support.I am new to this forum, how often/quickly do 343 reps respond to these types of posts?

Sounds like Xbox support fobbed you off. Issues like this really need to be handled by teams that have access to your Xbox account details. 343i don’t have this kind of access, but Xbox support do. I would contact them again - try either their live chat or send them a tweet if you have a twitter account.

I have tried Xbox support a few times. They’ve all told me that once the code is redeemed there is nothing they can do because the code from bundles comes from the developer and the developer manages it.

It doesn’t make sense to me and at this point I feel like I’m just stuck. This community based support system works great for game issues and I appreciate the idea here, but it’s just pitiful for these account issues that the community has no control over.

The Xbox live people (work for Microsoft) tell me to go to the developer (343i, also Microsoft) but they can’t give me a direct line, just these public forums.

I tried once again with XBox live support. The issue is that it was not a digital download, it was a code coming directly from the developer (in the bundle box). If it was a digital purchase, they could refund it. In this case, the developer (343 industries) has to manage the return with the reasoning being copyright infringement, which doesn’t sound completely right but i can understand it coming from an XBox live rep. There is nothing they can do, I’ve even tried escalating and they won’t because they have no control.

This has to be handled by 343i. Seeing as how they don’t have direct support contact, i don’t see this issue getting resolved. I seem to have screwed myself over.

I feel sorry for my parents (yeah, they play video games - Halo being their favorite, not mine). They love the series and were looking forward to playing this, so i’ll have to re purchase for them unless I get some response soon. But I feel like i’m just going to be out $60 in this case. I’m not a Halo fan, I won’t be playing the game, so Microsoft and 343i are just going to be making more money while I get screwed in the process.

It was my mistake though, so i guess i can’t be too upset. I’m mostly upset by the support set up by 343i and Microsoft.
