Help us save Competitive Halo!

Like in HALO 3 dub xp weekends were SOooooooo EPIC

Half RANKED / Half SOCIAL - Platlists

Answer to all ranking system questions here

Some say, “Choose Reach”, most say, “Choose 1-50”.
But no one has considered both. I have.
You may be wondering how this could work.
I’ll explain.

In Halo 3, MP was split into Ranked and Social.
I’m sure most of you favored this separation and would like to see it in Halo 4. As would I.

In Halo 3. people typically played Social to just have fun and mess around.
While in Ranked, people came to win, and some got pretty serious.
I say this should return in Halo 4, MP separation was one of the tops of Halo 3.

And now, to find how the Reach ranking system ties into this.
If Halo 4 does separate MP, it should also separate the ranking systems.
Now, since Ranked is for competitive play, the 1-50 should be used for it.
But in Social, people should be able to rank up using the Reach system.
Why?
Because people in Ranked are usually serious and skill is the main idea here.
In Social, there’'s more inexperienced players on average.
And those newer players will obviously want to rank up.
But maybe they can’t because they keep losing, and in the 1-50, no win, no rank increase.
And so, these new players need the Reacg system, so they can rank up without having to win.
And before you classic Halo players object, think about this.
If Ranked has the 1-50, and Social has the Reach system.
Where do you think all the inexperienced noobs are gonna go.
Reach, because there, they can rank up.

Some of you may be asking, “So how are we gonna have 2 separate currencies?”.
Well, we won’t. With the new Spartan Points, Reach rank won’t dictate how much S$ they have.
While they’ll still rank up through simply playing the game in Social.
They won’t get S$ for it.

The way to get S$ is by getting kills and medals, and that’s it.

In the end, I’d say I pleased both the newcomers and the vets.

I hope 343 brings back the 1-50 halo 2’s ranking system minus the hackers and modders to keep players playing

Halo 2 had the best ranking and had team training also. I don’t understand why 343 has not replied to all of us that come here all the time with the same request. All I can say is if they ignore us we should not buy halo 4 to send them a more clear message that we want the real halo back. halo 2 had it right even the maps were better. Exept for the glitches and hackers. Now that the system is better i hope they bring back the real halo.

We need exactly that.

The 1-50 ranking system is great because having a # beside your name meant something to players and it gave people incentive to play the game more and the 1-50 ranking system was based of skill and not just playing the game for a long time like halo reach and earning your rank that way.

Soooo 1-50 ranking system for the win for sure and many i repeat many people want the 1-50 system

exp based ranking destroys teamwork and makes everything feel like a grind thus making the game get boring fairly quickly, make it like Starcraft, play 5 rounds and you’re placed at the rank of however well you did, after that you either rise of sink based on preformance, like Halo 3

the halo 3 system worked perfectly fine

i agree with the OP except for swat; the gametype has pretty much no competitive merits and comes down oftentimes to just connection and luck. Also would like to see those weekend only ranked lists like mythic brawl come back; the pandamonium and level of skill in MB created some of the best games i ever played in H3.

> Just give MLG a ranking system and call it a day. Competitive default settings died with Halo 2.

Not a bad idea. Another suggestion I liked was keeping bloom, sprint, and AA’s in social and not in competitive.

> Just give MLG a ranking system and call it a day. Competitive default settings died with Halo 2.

This.

This is why I don’t understand why Halo 3 is put up on a pedestal. Halo 2 was infinitely better.

I agree with the OP. I believe a good balance between ranked and social playlists is in order. I’m not saying the 1-50 system was good, but I wouldn’t like an arena system either because it was really limited in terms of gametypes and rank… and by rank I mean indicator of your performance in the season.

However, I don’t agree with the OP regarding on his statement that competitive playlists shouldn’t have certain H4 features like customizable loadouts and weapon drops. I don’t think 343i will scrap off all the new H4 features in the ranked playlists because a vocal minority doesn’t like their changes. Who said these additions couldn’t technically be implemented in a competitive environment? It’s very unlikely that these things won’t be present in competitive gametypes beause…

assuming that ranked playlists will not include at least a series of these new additions entirely wrong because some of you need to understand that COMPETITIVE doesn’t necessarily mean CLASSIC. 343i has at least confirmed they’re releasing a classic playlist on launch. What’s stopping them from putting a classic playlist in both ranked and social playlist sets? I think that woukd be an awesome compromise and solution for those that still want to play competitively and have anclassic experience.

And yes… It’d be really exciting to have double exp weekends like in H3 back.

> Halo Reach is comprised of 30 Social playlists which include, but are not limited to:
>
> 1. Action Sack
> 2. Grif ball
> 3. Living Dead

I think that these should not be offered as full-time playlists, but released on weekends like in Halo 3, with a good incentive to play them, like earning more Spartan Points. They should also receive updates, in the form of more varied gametypes. For example:

Infection should include gametypes where a a team of humans must reach an objective.

Infection should allow weapon pickups, as long as maps are specially configured for it (also, humans should not be able to pick up swords, maybe have a “players drop weapons on death” custom option that could be turned off)

Infection should include gametypes where teams of humans defend a particular point (such as a complex of buildings), unable to leave it, while zombies swarm in from outside.

Grifball should offer far more Spartan points for actually scoring than simply participating.

Action Sack should include things like:
Cat and Mouse
Team Hotshot
Castle Wars (symmetrical CTF with swords and short-ranged guns only, with low player damage)
Races, in either Warthogs or mongeese
Bansheeball

No AAs/any gimmicks and Classic Halo settings only with 1-50 of course in all ranked playlists. That will be the best enjoyable competitive experience ever. 343i please make it happen!

People forget about it because it can’t be played on live anymore.

Not everyone plays MLG or enjoys it and even players like myself who do play and enjoy MLG do like to play it all the time. so in short plz understand that just as you wish to enjoy Halo 4 we do to. So just a simple like or some better advice would be great.

I hope Reach goes offline when halo 4 drops…

A 50/50 balance of Ranked and Social in Halo 4 would be great …

I think Halo could benefit from less playlists, not more. There is no way in blam! that Halo 4 could support 20-30 social and 20-30 ranked playlists with a healthy population, especially not since CoD will steal most players, even from the “ranked” playlists (strangely enough). Sure, Halo 4 could use more then 4 playlists for ranked, but over all the game needs less “nisch” playlists in favour of bigger population in the present ones (faster MM, better teams, less lag).

Reach has way to many social playlist and only 1 ranked playlist

A 50/50 split like in Halo 3 was great with double xp weekends coming back from time to time.
