Help, REALLY important. Not bug report.

Hi.

My gamertag: x Mataeus x
My fiance’s tag: Acid Rainbow13

We were just playing a game of Multiteam on Halo 3, which started with FIVE teams instead of four (the extra was purple). On the red team was a guy who’s tag displayed in game as [REDACTED], who was one and two shotting, winning by an extraordinary margin. We finished third in the match, and we were IMMEDIATELY PROMOTED to five star generals in the Multiteam Playlist, with our Multiteam XP showing at 3142 for me us both (we were both around the 600 mark before).

Checking the gamertag to file a complaint, his tag actually shows up as ‘BSG l General’, or ‘BSG I General’, I cannot tell in the Xbox font.

Not only am I deeply upset, as my fiance and I have been playing Halo 3 for years together gradually upping our Multiteam XP, but I’m TERRIFIED that somehow it will flag up as if we’ve hacked the game / pur profiles / whatever and we’ll get banned or worse.

I’m still in the post-game lobby right now, I dare not even come out of it.

Bizarrely, our ‘proper’ rank has not changed according to the service records, just the playlist rank.

What should we do? The game was on Construct, if that helps locate the offending match?

Please someone official respond ASAP. Should I phone Microsoft and report this? Is there a 343i support number I can call (I’m in the UK). My profile is extremely important to me; I have HUNDREDS of games purchased on it, and hundreds of add-ons etc. I have over 130,000 gamerscore.

I’m really worried :’(

Terrified here. I’m going to try dashboarding and loading back up to see if the hack has stuck. Ive heard of hacked lobbies in COD before, where people have had all their achievements unlocked in them, but never seen anything like this first hand.

Edit: Dashboarding didn’t work. We’re stuck with the XP. The modder also boasts in his profile about ‘Ultra white Recon colour mod’. I messaged him asking if it can be undone, that he ruined our profiles, and he just said ‘k’ and did nothing else.

Unfortunately modders are running rampant in Halo 3 and there’s nothing we, as forum goers, can do. I highly suggest you file a report for cheating from his gamer profile for starters and then you should send B is for Bravo with the details.

There’s nothing else we can do, I’m sorry. :frowning:

Thank you very much. I have sent the PM along as you suggested; I’ve already filed a complaint.
Do you think there’s much chance of this coming back on us from MS, and our profiles (outside of H3) being affected in any way? I assume that if any investigation was carried out, it would be clear that the modification didn’t originate from us.

It’s amazing how people can ruin the game for others.

I’m not 100% on how XBLE works but I think they can tell who is doing the modding and such. Best thing to do is wait and see what happens. Could also reach out to @XboxSupport if you have twitter.

The first thing you should do is contact Customer Support and explain to them the issue. If you are unable to receive support for whatever reason then you’ll have to hope for the best. I deeply apologize but that’s all I can think of, but still you should definitely get in touch with them regarding this situation. Until further notice, I would probably stay off of Halo 3 for a while as maybe someone is releasing a hack and/or mod that is allowing random players to do this. I hope this advice assisted you in any way possible.

Note: Try reaching out to Xbox Live support first before contacting 343 Industries. I say this because I believe that Microsoft has more control on banning players and getting these types of issues resolved. Good luck.

Hello x Mataeus x.

Basically, there’s nothing we can do here. The best thing to do would be to contact Bravo through Twitter and contact Xbox Support as well. I hope this gets resolved for your sake. Halo 3’s modders are running rampant these days. You’re not the only one to suffer.
