I wish there was a way to just pay Microsoft now and have the ability to download Halo 4 to my HD at midnight on Nov 6. Here is my blog post explaining myself a bit further: Help me give money to 343i and not GameStop
Does anyone have any suggestions to help me out with this idea? What do you think of my idea in general?
> I’m probably going to do that if Games on Demand is not an option. My ideal situation is just to download it and have it quickly available.
I guarantee it won’t be on Games On-Demand for a really long time, games don’t get put up there until they have made sales and have a large fanbase, while you could argue that there are loads of pre-orders and there already is a decently sized fanbase, it hasn’t been released and therefore, Microsoft can’t be sure it won’t flop.
As a GameStop employee, I’m insulted.
None the less, I don’t think you will be able to download it from Live at Midnight, or day 1 for that matter. Why not try Amazon? Or if you want to play by midnight, why not Best Buy?

No insult intended–thanks for still trying to help. I have some cool friends that work at GameStop; it’s not you, it’s them.

Only “Used” games screw over the developer/publisher.

I personally find nothing wrong with people who work in store but the people who run Gamestop “upstairs” are mindless corporate jerks who don’t care about video games and could give less than a single -Yoink- about the people who work below them

You do know the store has to buy the game first before they can sell it in their store?
Thanks, I do realize that Microsoft gets a cut of the money from GameStop, however, if you took the middleman out, along with all the packaging, shipping cost, etc, I think they will get even more money. GameStop may pay them $25 for a $60 game, where I would give them the full $60. If $25 is the price they pay, which I have no idea, then MS just made an extra $35 off of me.
As far as the packaging, I do like my swag, but I’m currently on my third copy of Reach. The first got the ring, the second got the kids, and the third is a digital download.

Lol no, the price for a game in the store where i buy my games are about 55 Euro, the store later on sells it for a bit more say 60 Euro so they allso can make a living, pay the bills etc.

Actually, I don’t think I’m that far off. Here’s a link from someone that did the research on wholesale prices for video games.
So Microsoft has a choice, sell it to GameStop for $30 or to me for $60.
