HELP?!? Map Packs!?!

I have just recently bought an XBox again and am playing Halo: Reach.

When playing multiplayer, as soon as I get in, I am prompted to go to the marketplace and buy content.

I want to play more that JUST Team Slayer, MAYBE Arena?, Big Team, all of that, but I cannot.

Any help? :), also, if you can, can you tell me what each map pack buys?

i know halo3 had the defiant map pack which was later made free.

The map packs are not required to play on Matchmaking, it is only needed for Squad DLC, Anniversary Classic, Anniversary FFA, Anniversary BTB & Anniversary Firefight.

When you first load up Reach, the only playlists that will load for about 10 seconds is the Anniversary playlists, then after that, go to the main menu and go back to the Matchmaking menu and it will show all the playlists.

The little flashing popup when you try to go on any playlist is actually saying they are recommended, not required.

The Noble Map Pack features the following multiplayer maps:
Tempest
Breakpoint
Anchor 9

The Defiant Map Pack features two multiplayer maps and one firefight map:
MP - Condemned & Highlands
Firefight - Unearthed

The Anniversary Map Pack features six multiplayer maps and one firefight map:
MP - Penance, remake of Damnation in Halo CE.
Battle Canyon, remake of the Halo CE & Halo 2 version of Battle Creek and Beaver Creek.
Ridgeline, remake of Timberlands from Halo PC.
Breakneck, remake of Headlong from Halo 2.
High Noon, remake of Hang 'Em High from Halo CE.
Solitary, remake of Prisoner from Halo CE.

Firefight - Installation 04, remake of an area from the Halo level on Halo CE.

Halo 3 only had ONE map pack which became free and that was the Heroic map pack, Cold Storage was also ONE map that was always free on Halo 3.

No future DLC for Reach will be free as they all have achievements linked to them, a rule from Microsoft is that if you have achievements tied to a DLC, then it will always cost.

You don’t need any of the DLC to just play. The only thing you actually need the map packs for is to play Squad DLC or Anniversary playlists. Any other playlist, you can play without any DLC.

If you want just one map pack, I’d recommend the Anniversary maps because they’re needed for multiple playlists, and the Anniversary playlists are a lot of fun. Noble and Defiant aren’t really worth it unless you want to play Squad DLC because they don’t come up very often anywhere else.
