Hi! We just got this game for my 11 year old step son and we thought it had the co-op option but we can’t find the way so we both can play at the same time… what should I do???

I first started playing Halo when I was 5 in 01 so your 11 year old shouldn’t have any issues completing the game by himself. You could always get him to go to the custom games section in the main menu and watch him play them or taking turns.
Sorry to say this, but the only way for you to play with your son, is to purchase another XBOX, XBOX live account and another copy of H5. This is one of the reasons my wife refused to play on the XBOX one.

Do you have a link to this quote? I don’t recall 343 claiming this about Halo 5.

343 didn’t say that, lmao.
Halo 5 dropped splitscreen for a locked 60fps 1080p game. (Runs 55fps at minimum, or so they said.)
Halo 6 will have Splitscreen, as Bonnie Ross said it definitely will.
343 heard the complaints about Halo 5, and they’re taking the steps and moving on.

The best bet is to take turns with your son, or buy another console (You can gameshare Halo 5, so you don’t have to buy another copy).
Otherwise, I’m sorry about this difficulty. It is definitely a big turnoff, we know.
Best of luck though! I hope you at least give the game a try, even if it gets a lot of hate; it can still be fun!

After doing about half hour of research, you’re right. I must’ve mistakenly read something way back before the game came out that made me think they were going to do it, then backed out of it later. Turns out they just said it wouldn’t work due to how intensive Halo 5 is on the Xbox. My mistake. Kinda feel a bit salty now that I realize I’ve had that complaint about Halo 5 for so long now and it wasn’t even justified. 
Also in that research it looks like splitscreen is going to be a guarantee as far as future Halos, so awesome.

You just got the game? Don’t bother trying to complete the campaign on legendary, the couple achievements you get aren’t worth the time invested or the amount of frustration it’ll cause. The only thing I can say I’d actually recommend for Halo 5 is Action Sack, and Shotty Snipers. There are a lot of sweats in this game.

Ik this is your opinion and that’s fine BUT you gotta play the campaigns on Legendary, especially if you’re a halo fan. It’s ok OP I saved you

Playing Warzone and Super Fiesta are probably the most casual game types for online pvp.
The single player Campaign is just like any other generic FPS on the market.
Can’t do anything sad to say. This game doesn’t support split screen
